POSTS STORIES REELS

Lately I’ve been visiting the dark corners of my past… like every mortifying, gut-punch, “oh god why did I do that” story.

For me, writing with radical honesty is like looking for stories crammed way in the back of a junk drawer, behind the dead batteries and that mystery key that doesn’t open anything but you keep it because WHAT IF.

I’m getting all those stories out for my next book about discerning between “real intuition” versus so-called “gut” responses (which I find is usually a combo of anxiety, wishful thinking and stress responses) and the AUDACITY to be yourself.

Every time I shape-shifted to fit in…all of those past-selves were ALL actually me. None of them were wrong. They were just different aspects of me. I chose to show the “right pieces” to the “right” groups.

The biggest takeaway:
A big part of who I am is who I am not.

I’ve played many different characters in the movie of my life… many times just to belong… I’ve been “everybody’s friend” in many groups, but it really made me miserable.

I love playing dress-up, but those metaphorical clothes also disguised my True Self… just like other people’s voices had covered up my True Inner Voice.

The last 10 years since my first daughter was born has been a slow, messy reawakening to my True Voice and True Self, like picking up the pieces of the world’s most emotionally complex jigsaw puzzle, where half of the pieces were hiding under the couch.

It also taught me a surprising lesson… Let people reintroduce themselves to you, even your closest friends, even your family. Give the people around you the space to become who they’re becoming, without assuming you know them, just because you’ve been friends or family for years. People change, so let them.

Happy anniversary to us. 💋

I used to think that intuition was whatever made me feel warm and fuzzy inside, but that was just my ego.

Real intuition made me feel uncomfortable until I did the uncomfortable thing.

Wishful thinking was over there telling me exactly what I wanted to hear, offering me champagne, and leading me directly into a wall.

The difference is so simple it’s almost annoying.

Intuition comes with a weird hit of courage you didn’t ask for (and honestly sometimes don’t want).

Wishful Thinking comes with comfort, zero follow-through, and eventually a bunch of closed doors you keep blaming on Mercury retrograde.

If your “inner guidance” never challenges your current plans and never disrupts your perfectly curated life… that’s not intuition talking.

Real intuition is a skill you can build and I teach the actual mechanics of it.

Save this for the next time you’re not sure if it’s your intuition or your wishful thinking doing the talking. 🔥

You can run from the fire… Or walk the fire.

Be the sidekick… Or the lead.

Play it safe… Or play it big.

Most people don’t know…Our patterns are running the show.

We fall back on habits… Instead of living with intention.

We make decisions from fear…. Instead of from who we are.

On WALK THE FIRE Podcast, hear the WINS and the WTFs.

These are the Walk the Fire stories.

These stories inspire.

They challenge you to stop running.

And to walk the fire.

When you’re doing what’s best for you and being the happiest version of yourself, the right sorts of relationships will appear in your life. It’s true that life (and the people living it) can be an absolute bummer sometimes, but don’t let those unhappy times make you jaded (if you do that, the jerks win). Have the audacity to be yourself, openhearted and eyes-wide-open-minded, knowing that your only job is to be happy in this moment.

Writing a book while your brain is staging a revolt is kinda awkward. Almost every day I sit down at my computer, my inner critic shows up like a Dementor.

In this process, I’ve found getting unstuck is 90% mind games and 10% actually doing the thing (which, rude). The only way out is “through” as they say. And that means outthinking your brain when it’s being mean and totally determined to feed you more excuses to quit.

My fave fix is number 5, which is how I got all of these action shots of me absolutely not writing my book.

🔖 Save these 10 fixes for the next time you need to tell your inner critic to go bite the wall.

Opinions are like a-holes. Everybody’s got one and thinks everyone else’s stinks.

Sometimes you’ll look at their perspective and think, “Okay, I see it, and I still disagree.” That’s fine… Wild concept, I know. 🫠

You don’t need to hide your light* around the people who supposedly know you the best. Stop playing the role you think they want to see, and let them fall in love with the “you” you were always meant to be.
*Or darkness, if that’s your thing.

If someone doesn’t get me, that’s OK. I remind myself that there’s absolutely nothing in this world that everyone likes. There are even weirdos who don’t like chocolate 🤷‍♀️ but does that mean chocolate is bad? Nope, it means those people are wrong and/or robots. And that’s actually fine because there’s more chocolate for the rest of us.

Intuition at its simplest is… When you don’t know how you know, but you know you know, and you know you knew, and that’s all you needed to know.

Instead of asking “HOW do I know this?”… start asking “WHY do I keep ignoring what I already know?” Is it out of fear, anxiety, doubt, resistance? Look at the WHY and then see if your intuition didn’t have a point. 🤔 Intuition is usually NOT comfortable…Or comforting.

Or don’t believe your intuition and realize it just keeps being right and lets you take six months to figure that out on your own. 🤷‍♀️

REPEAT AFTER ME:
WE DO NOT BEG to sit at tables we were not invited to. WE DO NOT CHASE people who exclude or ignore us. We do not seek healing from those who hurt us. We do not sell ourselves out to get into someone’s circle. We do not set ourselves on fire to keep others warm. We respect our time and energy and so naturally we respect yours. We create our own circle. We surround ourselves with only those who truly love, understand, and respect us. We learn where to express our energy. WE REMEMBER OUR SELF-WORTH.
