15 years later we are thrilled to finally release "Sweet", a whimsical backstage look into the characters and their world, as they get ready to become an ice cream sundae! We have grown a lot since we dreamed this sweet dream of one day, being the ones to call on for stop motion and conceptual food projects. With gratitude, we have gone on to do just those things and we are not done yet! What's next?!! A very special thank you to our talented collaborators in bringing this stop motion to life. About that sundae 🍨...Let's talk about some crazy times when Bulk Barns were scarce and the need to bring a vision to life was kind of urgent. Thankful for tweezers and even more thankful for fearless like minds 💞 @chichi_photo ! #sundae #stopmotion #sprinkles #tweezers #bulkbarncanada by @christinayan
We began this stop motion flip book journey in 2011, printed the book in 2013 and have been working on the stop motion reel since 2014. It's 2026 and we haven't officially signed off on it 😂! Nonetheless, here is a little BTS sneak peek of making ice cream dreams come true. 💕🥹 🍨 Sketches by @chichi_photo and @christinayan Photography: @chichi_photo Prop & Food Styling: @christinayan Studio: @westside_studio #stopmotion #flipbook #sundae #icecream by @christinayan
I've grown weary of all this AI talk and what it means for our future. ⚡️Let's go back in time...to 2011⚡️When Vicky Lam @chichi_photo and I dreamt up a clever little story about the making of a CLASSIC ice cream sundae. It's analogue! It's stop motion! It's a flip book! And it's so much fun!!! Follow along for the making of in the days to come 🍨. One of the hardest parts of my job is the strike after wrap. Often times, I've invested weeks, days and hours on the creation process and then I must say goodbye to my 'baby' 🥹. It's never easy...👋 #proplife by @christinayan
Remembering that little life moments tend to weave their way into work prep (or is it the other way around?) helps in reminding me to slow down, take a breath and take notice! That being said, Man vs Wild! A special moment occurred while I was babysitting and baking those many cakes (good combo, by the way). Ever since my friends baby was born, my dog Goji has always been weary of him, so she was not allowed to be near him. Since he has grown, he has really wanted to be friends with Goji but she was still very unsure about him. That day, he intuitively turned to the right and pressed the button on his toy to communicate what was in his heart with Goji and she finally understood. Now it's all hugs and kisses between them two! 👶🐕 by @christinayan
Happy little trees 🌲 and happy little me 🤗! There is nothing I love more than to be making out of the ordinary things ✨! 📸 @chichi_photo by @christinayan
Assignment: @begiantca make cake to represent geothermal energy. I'm on it 🫡!!! So grateful for photographer Vicky Lam and the creative team's trust to explore the different possibilities of colours, textures and shapes using food. I literally ran with it...14 baked cakes later and all the yummy things you can think of! If you know me, you know I like options. And besides, no cake was left behind after 🥳! Should one have this much fun at their job??? Thank you @begiantca (see the article here!) Though I propped this job for Real Canadian Superstore with photographer Vicky Lam, a few years ago, it wasn't until last week that I actually saw it up close and BIG 🤩!!! This project gave me the opportunity to explore different cultures and bring in some very beautiful tabletop wares of which I just don't have enough slides here to show. As my Mom had said to me before when I show her pics of what I do for work..."What?!! How come you need so many??!!!" 🤷🏻‍♀️🍽️😉 Carousel by @westside_studio "How big do you want the waffles?
