We all want to believe we have nothing to do with our suffering; sometimes we earn our misery.

A floating seed
A wish
Carried by a single breath
Less than a word
Yet still weighted
With the minds of philosophers
Souls of prophets
Hearts of revolutionaries
Skins of martyrs
Notes of life

An expanse beyond mountains
Beyond heavens or sky

That moment of hope

Douglas. A friend from another lifetime. In this photo he was battling a tumor growing on the side of his face. Due to insurance issues; he was being forced to wait months for treatment/surgery while his flesh literally rotted away. When his insurance was finally squared away, the tumor had progressed so much that he ended up losing his eye. From my youth he was always a symbol to me of how absolutely corrupt our health care system could be.

She climbed into the sky's blues
as her two
eyes
closed

Gazing toward the light
feathers curled and
stretching outward
flames dancing from her fingertips
sweet songs of freedom
Flowed

With each breath
she rose

Upward

So he made home with the trees.
Conversing through the breeze
and raising up the youth from seed.

Sleep, little one sleep. Take comfort, in the dark of night. For the morning sun will open your eyes, and you'll see that the world is a fucked up place. •
