Stopped by one of my favorite Cleveland spots, Never Say Dive at 4497 Broadview Rd, Cleveland.

It opened in January 2024 and has been doing something that is hard to fake. It is building a place people return to because it feels real. The food stands out from the kitchen led by chef Douglas Filkins. He is always working on new ideas and thinking beyond the plate. He also pointed me toward a couple of other small, lesser known spots around Cleveland where chefs are experimenting without much attention, just craft and curiosity.

Behind the bar is the ringleader and one of the owners, Dan Watson. He has a way of pulling you into conversation about the city. Curious, steady, always paying attention to what is happening around him, and eager to learn more.

Also pictured is the amazing team of Adam Costello, Alicia Parente, and Ellie Sanavicca. They work with smiles and make the place feel open the moment you walk in.

This is the kind of Cleveland spot I keep coming back to. Not just for the drinks or the food, but for the people who built it and keep it going. A place that respects what came before while still shaping what comes next in Cleveland. If you have not been in yet this holiday weekend, it is worth the stop. Happy Fourth of July! by @skrticx

We could not be more thrilled to introduce our new Head Chef, Doug.

Doug has been with us since day one, and instantly became one of the most beloved people in the building by his coworkers, guests, friends, peers, and the ownership team.

Doug has spent decades traveling the globe, as both a Chef and as a DJ. He's run many a kitchen with many a variety of cuisines. The perspective and creativity he brings is amazing, but what's even more impressive is his ability to get everyone involved and unite his team. His leadership is irreplaceable. And meeting his amazing family has been a true privilege.

Our kitchen team are bar none the city's finest, and the menu ideas they've been collaborating on have us more than excited to share them with you. Our dishes will have their experiences, thoughts, and (figurative) fingerprints of the whole team.

Be it Chef Doug's New Orleans and Buffalo inspired dishes, Chef Austin's refined takes on seasonal and plant-based dishes from his time at Commune in Columbus, Chef Kevin's passion for desserts and charcuterie, and Chef Thu's "Cold Noodle" Vietnamese nights we'll be rolling out on Mondays, in short order. Keep your eyes here for details in the coming weeks.

And no, your Never Say Dive favorites aren't going anywhere. Cleveland's best Smash Burger is here to stay, same with our Unc-approved Fried Chicken and the beloved Dive Dog
