this world theatre day, i’m eternally grateful to have played the Nightingale from Yvette Nolan’s Indigenous adaptation of ‘The Birds’. My last show at Theatre Erindale with TDS 🥺

this show means the world to me, more than words can describe. despite that, it’s even more meaningful to the world at large. the land of the birds, and the birds themselves, represent the oppressed, the “other”, creatures put down by centuries of colonial and capitalist structures. they are us, we are them, and it’s important to give them a space to flourish and for their voices to be heard.

theatre is one of those forums. theatre gives us a chance to share stories from all over, to share worldviews. theatre is right now, it’s in your face, and it’s needed now more than ever.

it’s an honour to be a storyteller of theatre, to act, sing and move on stage with my dearest friends.

my birdies, thank you for standing beside me and encouraging me to sing my heart out every show. i love you all with my entire heart.

to our incredibly kind, patient and wickedly gifted director. Marcel, you opened my mind and heart even further than i thought possible. thank you for your trust, thank you for pushing me. you gave me so much in the little time we had together. i’m forever thankful for your genius.

and finally to my Nightingale, my Procne. your songs and stories will stay with me forever. your strength and perseverance is never ending, and i’ll carry you with me as long as i live. i love you and i miss having you by my side everyday.

stories are forever. stories are what makes us human. stories are who we are and what we’re made up of. keep telling stories, and keep making art, because art is transcendent and glorious.

caska my love, i will speake hands for you forever 🔪🖤

what a joy and honour it has been to play this role. to be sassy and a gossip all the while speaking in a Dublin accent has been a privilege. the biggest privilege of my life however, has been to do this with the most wonderful group of talented and phenomenal people. i love you all ❣️i can’t believe it’s over, but i will cherish this time for as long as i live.

to put this piece into words would be impossible on so many levels, so here’s a tidbit:

“how the hell are we supposed to get the baby off the wing?”

The Travelling Troupe presenting Goodness Gracious, our third year devised show. wow that was something.

singing, dancing, growing up, piano loving pirates, dead cinderella, the greek gods, la Volta, fly high airlines, ancient monster puppets by the fire, and glasses that will make you tell your darkest secrets. and we created the whole damn thing!

wow. how i’m proud of us ❤️
