We’re looking for a Construction Superintendent to join our team.

Full-time, on-site across the Kansas City metro. The work is custom residential: new builds and complex remodels, each one built differently from the last.

For someone who leads in the field, protects the design, and wants a team that values both.

Send your resume to hello@cicadacompany.com with the subject line “Construction Superintendent Application – [Your Name]”

Full details in the slides.

We’re excited to share that Collector’s Cottage has been featured by @ruemagazine.

It’s a renovation rooted in story: English cottage charm softened with Southwestern warmth, shaped by art, travel, and a lifetime of collected pieces. We’re grateful to Rue for the chance to share the vision, process, and meaning woven into this home.

A special project for a special pair. Check it out through the link in our bio ✨ by @cicada_co

We’re reflecting on a transformative year highlighted by our Eclectic Escape project’s feature in @archdigest. This project for @heidilgardner began as a bathroom remodel but evolved into a complete overhaul of the midcentury modern home. Guided by intentional design and meticulous execution, our team honored MCM principles while tailoring the space to reflect Heidi’s unique style.

From reimagined floor plans to bespoke finishes, this one-of-a-kind project is a testament to the creativity, craftsmanship, and collaboration of our entire design and build team.

Thank you, AD, for the feature, and an even bigger thank you to the team that made this project possible 🤍

Good design is personal. And so are the stars.

Twelve signs, twelve design styles, from the quiet luxury of Taurus to the experimental Aquarius.

Swipe to find yours, then tell us: did we get it right? 🔮

Tara and Kyle took a chance. And look what grew.

From where they started to the studio Cicada is now, it’s been a lot of work, a lot of heart, and a lot of people along the way.

Take a chance because you might grow 🤎 by @cicada_co

This Kansas City home had an immediate sense of history as it was built on the land where the couple once got married. The brief for @cicada_co was to create a forever home that felt as though it had grown here naturally, gathering stories along the way. There's a kitchen mural inspired by a painting from the owners' grandparents' home, a garden room for the family's green fingers and a bedroom designed entirely around the view of the sunset.

Find out more about the home at the link in bio.

Welcome to Studio Hours. A look at how the Cicada studio works, starting with the material library.

Part creative playground, part organized chaos (the good kind). This is where ideas take shape, materials meet, and our team works alongside clients to turn inspiration into something entirely their own.

Every detail of this space was considered with that experience in mind. From dedicated client drawers housing selections for each project to thoughtfully designed storage, layered textures, and integrated technology, our material library was built to make the design process as inspiring as the spaces we create.

Consider this your invitation inside.

More Studio Hours coming soon.

You’ve seen the studio. Now here’s how we use it.

The material library where every project starts. The walls covered in references. The table where decisions get made, and the pieces that make a room feel collected.

Architecture, interiors, construction, furniture. All under one roof, and all of it in the work.

Swipe for a closer look 🤎

A tour, led by Tara.

For the first time, the whole team has a dedicated space to work together. Plans get spread out, samples come off the shelves, moodboards take shape, and clients get their first look at what their homes will become.

Then there’s the conference room. Fully enclosed, used constantly, and already making a case for a second one.

Every corner was built to show clients what’s possible: the vendors, trade partners, finishes, and fixtures we love most.

More from inside the studio soon 🤎

The weather’s shifting, and the mudroom is the first to know.

Jackets on hooks. Boots by the bench. Baskets for the scarves and hats that are just around the corner.

We start with the function: custom built-ins, a place to sit, closed storage for the clutter and open cubbies for what you grab every day. Then we layer in color, hardware, and a few vintage pieces so it feels like part of the home, not an afterthought.

The highlight of the kitchen isn’t the range. It’s what’s behind it.

This mural backsplash started as a painting from the client’s grandmother’s house — reworked to include their two boys and their dogs, hand-painted on custom tile in a color mixed specifically for this project by @kvtiles.

Some details are just decorative, but this one tells a story too.
