Today I said goodbye to my very best friend, my soul dog, my world.

To my Walty,

Thank you for loving me so unconditionally. Thank you for giving me a reason to keep going when I wasn’t sure I could. Thank you for being my constant through every chapter of my life.

I picked you up when you were just 8 weeks old, and today I had to say goodbye to you at 12 years old. It will never feel like enough. Twelve years could have never been enough with you.

I’m so sorry cancer tried to take so much from you, but it never took you. You were still you, despite how you were feeling. You were still the same bossy boy who always let me know when it was time for bed. You still followed me from room to room, just wanting to be wherever I was. You still looked at me with those loving eyes and those ears that somehow had a personality all their own. You made me laugh when I needed it most, wiped away more tears than you’ll ever know, and gave me so much life. Even when your body was tired, you never stopped loving me.

Today, you crossed the Rainbow Bridge peacefully at home, exactly where you felt safest. You were surrounded by love with my dad, @mailynngo, and me beside you, holding you until your very last breath. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, but giving you peace was the greatest act of love I could give you.

I don’t know how to come home to a house without you in it. I don’t know who I am without hearing your paws on the floor, seeing your face waiting for me, or feeling your head resting beside me.

You weren’t just my dog.

You were my home.
My comfort.
My safe place.
My greatest privilege.

Thank you for choosing me to be your mom. Thank you for every walk, every cuddle, every adventure, every laugh, and every moment you made this life brighter just by being in it.

I will miss you for the rest of my life.

Run free, my sweet boy.

You did so, so good.

I don’t have the right words to explain what I’m feeling, what our friends are feeling, or how the McCalister Family is feeling.

I do know that meeting you was my greatest adventure, you were my best friend, the love of my life.

We met as two kids in college in the parking lot of Stangel stayed up way too late dancing around any chance we got. You would always have to kick me out of bed to get to soccer practice.

We grew up together from little 18 years running around Texas Tech campus, 20 years making our way through the big D, to 30 somethings trying to make it through a pandemic.

Thank you for being my biggest supporter. No matter if we were in an argument or had one of our breakups you still had a way of being there for me and loving me through it all.

I can still feel your big hugs, hear your laugh, and hear you telling me “you’re a bad bitch”. I wish you were here for all of that now.

I am not okay. I don’t know when I will be. If you’ve sent me messages or tried to call I appreciate you so much.

I’m taking time to grieve and watching this video over and over again of a glimpse into our imperfect wonderful time together over the years

You were my great love Bryan Allen McCalister.

I love you.
I always have.
I always will 💔

Rest In Peace my love. by @cillabobilla

Well, there’s a new little face joining the family.

Meet Charli Mac 🤍

I wasn’t sure I’d be ready for another puppy after losing Walty, but when Kelli sent me her story and picture, I didn’t have the same reservations I’d felt before. Something about this little girl just felt different.

Charli was abandoned at NorthPark Mall, rescued, and placed with a foster family who named her Angel. Her birthday? August 20. The same day Walty became mine.

I brought her home on Halloween, and in just a few days, I’ve learned she’s fearless, incredibly smart, full of energy, and VERY food motivated. She’s already keeping me on my toes. 😂

Today marks three months without my soul dog. Three months of learning to navigate a world that feels so different without him in it.

I won’t pretend bringing home a new puppy makes that grief disappear. There’s still a lot of missing him, but there’s also so much love and hope wrapped up in this new chapter.

Walty will always be my once-in-a-lifetime boy.

💕 About her name:
Charli’s name carries a little piece of two great loves of my life. Charli was the name I originally considered for Walty before deciding he was much more of a Walter. Mac is for Bry.

A little Walty, a little Bry, and a whole new story of her own.

Here’s to new beginnings, all the puppy chaos, and finding a little more joy again.

Welcome home, Charli Mac. I know Walty sent you. 🤍🐾🪽

October 27th is the day we honor the pets we’ve loved and lost, so today, I’m celebrating my sweet Walty with his first ofrenda. His favorite treats, fresh water, his favorite toy, and his collar. Marigolds to guide him and candles to light his way home.

I hope you’re up there with Bry keeping him company and getting all the love you deserve. As much as I love thinking of you two together, selfishly, I wish I could have you both here with me.

You brought so much joy into my life, sweet boy, and I’ll never stop celebrating you or being grateful that I got to be your mom.

Until I get to see you again, I love you forever, sweet boy. 🧡 by @cillabobilla

two marathons in two weeks was certainly a choice. Not necessarily a smart one. 😂🫠 That mile 21 crash out was REAL @chimarathon . But the crowds?! Unreal. Thank you for the Cokes, the applesauce, and the energy that carried me when my legs had officially clocked out. Chicago, y’all are something special. 🫶🏼 by @cillabobilla

Chicago, we did it!! 🥹🏙️ 3:44:58!

Two World Majors in two weeks.
And one VERY tired girl.

Thank you all so much for making this dream possible. For every donation to Mercy Home, every encouraging word, and every voice note. ❤️

This year hasn’t exactly gone how I imagined.

I don’t even know how to properly thank y’all for all the ways you’ve shown up for me. It’s such a gift to have a community like this, and I really hope you know how much I appreciate you. Y’all have helped carry me through this season and across these finish lines. I love yall!!!!!

Walty, I did it, bubba.
I wish you were here.
I love you forever. 🐾❤️ by @cillabobilla

This year has been a journey.

The miles I didn’t want to run because it was so damn hot. The miles I skipped because I wanted to be home with Walty. The miles I cried through. The miles that didn’t go to plan.

I had a wild dream this year to run both Berlin and Chicago. And somewhere between the training, the injuries, the grief, and everything life threw at me, I had to learn that showing up doesn’t always look the way you thought it would.

Berlin was magical, despite everything this summer brought with it. And tomorrow, Chicago will be a victory no matter what that finish line looks like.

On World Mental Health Day, I’m reminded of why I started running and why I continue to. Running has been a big part of getting me through some of the hardest years of my life, and this year was no different.

I think sometimes we underestimate ourselves because we measure progress by what we accomplish, the miles we hit, or the goals we check off. But sometimes, doing hard things looks like adjusting the plan, giving yourself grace, taking a step back, and finding a way forward when life doesn’t go as planned.

So tomorrow, I’m running for the kiddos at Mercy Home. For my two loves watching over me from heaven. And for me, for making it through the days I wasn’t sure how I would.

Here’s to the miles that change us, the ones that heal us, and the ones that remind us we’re still here. ❤️ by @cillabobilla

Runners, save this one. 🏃🏼‍♀️

My marathon bestie put me onto these, and they’ve been a race-week staple ever since. Easy carbs, easy to pack, and actually delicious.

• 185g Rice Krispies
• 70g Trader Joe’s Cultured Salted Butter
• 85g Pillsbury Funfetti Cake Mix
✨Sprinkles on top ✨

Made in a 12-inch pan + cut into 6 pieces.

Accidentally became a runner.

I’ve read that people who go through trauma or major loss often find their way to endurance sports. I get it. I needed a routine. Somewhere to put my grief. Something to work toward when so much of life felt out of my control. Running became that for me. It still is.

When I look back at where I started, the progress is pretty wild. My first marathon was a 10:31/mile pace. Berlin was 8:07/mile. That’s a pretty big difference for someone who never really planned on becoming a marathon runner in the first place.

After three marathon training blocks, a few things I’ve learned:

• Pacing: If your coach or app gives you a target, there’s usually a reason for it. You don’t need to turn every workout into a race.

• Fuel properly: Carbs are your besties, protein is their sidekick, and fat stays pretty minimal around training. Under-fueled, you feel like shit. Properly fueled, you can get your workouts done and recover better.

• Recovery: Rest days, stretching, accessory work and giving your legs time to repair are all part of training. It’s not cute to never rest. 😂

• Trust the easy days: You don’t get better by making every run hard. A lot of the work happens in Zone 2, building your aerobic base without constantly adding more stress. This cycle, I focused on keeping my easy runs easy and controlling my heart rate, even when Texas decided to make every run feel like a personal attack. 😂

Shout out to @runna for the training plan, @paragontrainingmethods for keeping me strong, @pdcmealprep for keeping me fueled & my friends for the accountability.

Now I’m one week out from Chicago and my second World Major. I have no idea what my legs are going to give me after Berlin. If another 3:30 is there, I’ll take a shot. If it’s not, that’s okay.

Because this race is bigger than a time.

I’m running for the boys and girls of Mercy Home. Kids who deserve safety, stability and the chance to feel hopeful in a world that can feel so uncertain.

Thank you to everyone who has donated and helped make this possible. Getting to run my second World Major is pretty damn cool. Getting to do it for them means a whole lot more.

Chicago, here we go. 🤍 by @cillabobilla

2 months without my soul boy.

This was my first trip without you.
No dropping you off at Mimi’s.
No texts telling me you were officially in the clean plate club, or that a storm was coming but not to worry.
No picking you up and seeing how excited you were to see me.

I came home from Germany and all I wanted was to come home to you.
🥺❤️‍🩹
