hình như bạn hơi im lặng (2024).
•
Part of the 「再接続」 collection! The title means “you seemed a little quiet” in vietnamese. This artwork was created based on the idea of being silenced by the people closest to you in the blood line. The reason why I chose vietnamese because it is my first language and most of my family line is from. Because sometimes you are blood related to someone, you can’t speak for yourself. In some asian cultures, speaking up for yourself is viewed as disrespect, but the gap between generations are so big that even when children cannot say anything back to adults, even if they just want to explain themselves. So we chose to be quiet…then get asked why we are quiet. The tiger represents the things we want to say, but cannot say and break the beautiful norms of our cultures.

cerebral charade (2024).
•
Fifth piece of the「再接続」collection! the title isn’t in another language lol, i like poetic titles :)) this has to be one of my fav works (and most time consuming). the three hands on the left and the rubik cubes are painted in black and white using acrylics and everything else (minus the background) are colored glue-on hole punches. i wanted to arrange over 1000 hole punches manually to create an emphasis on the smallest things you were/are being manipulated of in every aspects of your life. . .but you broke the chain and set yourself free to the light. the b&w hands represent the mind control (blindness), the person (me) and the candle symbolize freedom from darkness.

Lupine Reverie (2025).
•
As a STEM student with a passion for creativity, I enjoy blending science with artistic expression. In this piece, the background features STEM formulas, representing my studies in physics, calculus, and chemistry. The wolf symbolizes NC State’s mascot, but it also holds a deeper meaning — wolves have been my favorite animal since I was little, symbolizing strength, loyalty, and resilience. The flowers reflect life science concepts, but they also carry personal significance — they are the same flowers given to me by someone I love. The title, Lupine Reverie, evokes a dreamlike state — a space where creativity thrives without rigid boundaries, inviting viewers to find their own meaning within the piece. Last but not least, Lupine means “wolf-like” and comes from the Latin word “lupinus,” meaning “of the wolf” and Reverie is the state of being pleasantly lost in one’s thoughts.

ancestral echoes (2024).
•
Last piece of the 「再接続」 collection! The one that everyone has been asking about lol. This piece shows my cultural roots. The girl is me (kinda) in Vietnamese traditional clothing during the Nguyen dynasty (1802-1945). The dragon represents my Chinese root. The hand fan is more of a Japanese style (I grew up watching and being surrounded by Japanese contents and culture). The color red symbolizes Luck and Happiness. The poems in the background are both in Vietnamese (top) and Chinese (bottom); both describing the art and meaning of life. There are strict disciplines and norms growing up but that’s what made who I am today, and proud to be.

Разочарование (2024).
•
Prolly last post for a while because I’m about to travel for summer break 😭 The title is in Russian, meaning “disappointment,” it symbolizes the feeling of sadness and lost of hope. The angular shapes create a sharp feeling, like glass shattered while the colors of red and black add more melancholic elements to it.

thrilling trepidation (2024).
•
this abstract painting originated from the feelings of excitement and nervousness at the same time. i experienced it when i got chosen to give a speech in front of thousands of people. the imbalance creates an uneasy feeling while the bright colors bring joy to it! i’m excited to do it in a few days, BUT really nervous 🥲

i made this like two years ago, but i think my art teacher has it or smth cus i cant find it anywhere lol 😭 i found this pic i submitted for an assignment and decided to post cus why not 🥲 the title is in welsh, meaning “voices of innocence.” even though i grew up in vietnamese, chinese, and japanese cultures, this drawing still captures the typical american childhood and toys that i had experienced when i moved to america 🥲

i can’t remember how many pieces i’ve made for the 「再接続」 collection LOL, but this is one of my most liked pieces i’ve ever made. i can’t give too much details about this piece, but i drew someone who has been helping me succeed out of just calculus formulas 😁👍🏻

복잡 (2024).
•
Fourth piece of the「再接続」collection! As usual, the title means “complex” in Korean. The painting is made from both oil and acrylic paints. The combination of designs represent the intricacies of love. The carnations show the purity flying like doves. The red spider lilies symbolize death and rebirth. All these challenges they went through in the past, mark the beginning of their unconditional love.

未说 (2023).
•
Third piece of the「再接続」collection! The title means “the unsaid” in chinese (thanks kai). It represents the beauty of self-destruction. Long story short, I asked multiple random people to anonymously tell me what are the things they’ve said to themselves, but never told anyone. I’ve written those words in various fonts and making the background pretty to show the beauty, but if you look closely, those are hurtful words. So, the pain is drawn on a portrait (kinda) of me, in which the mouth is covered by three cherry blossoms, proving that these are the words I (or we) cannot speak.

eventually (2023).
.
My second piece of my “再接続” (reconnection/recall) collection! The title speaks a thousand words. The idea of this is based on the Chinese Red String of Fate and Taylor Swift’s Invisible String. If it’s meant to be, it will be. Two souls met, fell in love, separated because of whatever reason(s), moved on (but not let go), and “eventually,” they will meet again; they are meant to be together. The two hands are drawn using charcoal and the glowing string using chalk pastel. The contrast of color pigments places emphasis on the string; the red (and glowing) represents luck in China/Vietnam. Special thank you to my friend who agreed to be my muse (his hand)! One of my proudest artworks so far!
