Cinnamon Ashford: Building Pathways to Opportunity in Detroit Tech

Access can open a door. But sometimes, people need someone to help them find the door in the first place.

Cinnamon Ashford is helping aspiring innovators in Detroit navigate that path, one resource, one referral, and one relationship at a time.

As a Learner Services Coordinator at the Apple Developer Academy in Detroit, Cinnamon realized her role was about more than coordinating operations. She was helping create opportunities that could change people's futures.

Her own experience with community organizers, Black Tech Saturdays, and Venture 313 showed her what access can look like when someone is willing to help you navigate it. She took that lesson and turned it into action, building systems and connections designed to help learners find the resources and support they need.

Her story highlights an important part of entrepreneurship and technology: opportunity is not always about whether someone has the talent or ambition. Sometimes, it's about whether they have a roadmap, a resource, or a person willing to point them in the right direction.

Cinnamon is helping build that infrastructure for the next person.
