Jesus' possible face was recreated with Midjourney IA using the Turin Mantle markings.
The result is strong.
Does it look like how you imagined it, or does it seem very different?
Do you think the Shroud really shows her face?
Opinion.
• Arguments for its authenticity: Those who argue that the mantle enveloped the body of Jesus argue that the three-dimensional marks, royal blood stains and pollen types found correspond geographically to the region of Judea. Recent studies with X-ray technologies have suggested that flax wear could coincide with tissues from the 1st century AD.
• The scientific arguments are skeptical: On the other hand, the radiocarbon test (Carbon-14) carried out in 1988 by three independent laboratories dated flax between 1260 and 1390 AD, which points to a medieval origin. For the skeptical scientific community, the mantle is an extraordinary work of art or relic from the Middle Ages, but not a physical record of Jesus.

The role of AI in recreation

It is important to understand how a tool like Midjourney works in this type of project:
1. Data interpretation: AI does not "discover" a hidden face on its own; it takes the negative shadows, volumes and reliefs printed on the canvas and tries to "translate" them into hyper-realistic human textures.
2. Training bias: AI-generated images are strongly influenced by the thousands of previous artistic data and images with which the algorithm was trained. Therefore, the result tends to resemble the classic Western iconography of Jesus (long hair, thin beard, elongated features), which differs from how anthropologists and historians describe the average characteristics of a Jewish man from Judea in the first century (usually with more brown skin, short, curly hair). #turinmantle #Jesus #theturinmantle #AI #IA by @cinturoneatefdn
