Dead hours are the quietest problem in placemaking, and this year I activated over 500% more of them. Revenue’s up 39% and the year’s not even done.

Honest part: I’ve been undercharging, and that changes now. Fair to the artists I work with, fair to me. Got an hour that goes dark? That’s exactly what I do. 🎪

This is my GUY, @djeliotness 🇩🇴. DJ Eliot Ness spun at four out of the five Somer Fest events and I couldn’t be more grateful to know him.

He has a great knack for moving the crowd and is an even better human. If we are running this thang back in 2027, he will be my first call. 📞

This is what Boston artists deserve: a real stage, intentional visuals, and sound that does them justice. 🎥🎶

“For The Culture” is the filmed performance series created by @frompandaculture and brought to life with @tell.me.studios. Every frame and every note is their work, and it shows.

Boston has world class talent, but too many of our artists, especially artists of color and independents without label backing, never get professionally filmed live footage they can use to book shows, land funding, and grow an audience. Panda Culture and TellMe saw that gap and built something to close it. 🐼

Citixen Joy is proud to share that we’ve been awarded a $5,000 Creative Experiences Grant from @masscultural council to support “For The Culture.” We helped shape the relaunch and wrote the application, but the vision and the craft belong to Panda Culture and TellMe Studios.

We love activating spaces with live concerts around in your Greater Boston neighborhoods. It gives us a chance to highlight emerging artists and connect them to new audiences while exposing all parties to dope spaces that they would normally not enter. 🚫

We will always be grateful for @hellosensei, a talented Greater #Boston rapper, who tore the house down at Citixen Joy’s very first showcase in July 2024.

Check out all of Sensei Sol’s projects on @spotify or however else you stream music. It slaps! 💪🏽

Why do we focus on emerging artists like @sunbeam.queen? Because Boston’s creative future isn’t somewhere else. It’s rightchea, waiting for a stage.

Here’s what drives us:

🎤 Emerging artists are local, and they need real opportunities to take the next step in their careers.
🏙️ We don’t want them to leave Boston😭. We want them to thrive here as our creative infrastructure grows and evolves.
🌱 We want to grow with them, not just book them once.
🤝🏽 Every show builds mutual followings organically. Their fans discover us, our community discovers them.
🖤 It builds trust locally, one room and one show at a time.
💸 Investing in local talent keeps money and opportunity circulating in our own neighborhoods.
✊🏽 Too many BIPOC artists face gaps in access to stages, pay, and industry networks. Opening doors early is how we help close them.
💡 And to keep it a stack? There’s nothing like seeing an artist before everyone else knows their name.

Every pop-up activation is a chance to prove that Boston can grow its own.

17 genres. Two stages. One lineup. One city showing up for artists.

Grateful to have curated @walthamriverbeat 2026, presented by Downtown Waltham Partnership.

Equity is a scored criterion, not a vibe. How we actually pick lineups at Citixen Joy.

The night didn’t end when Root wrapped last Friday. Late Night Lounge picked up right where The Listening Room left off, taking the energy from The Substation straight to @atmidnightmorning for the after-party to celebrate @jojosounds.🪩

This is the part of the series that doesn’t always make it into the recap: the after-hours space where the conversations get longer, the connections get realer, and the night becomes something you remember for reasons beyond the music. Massive shoutout to @sunbeam.queen, whose set absolutely slapped and carried the room. Thank you to Midnight Morning for hosting the vibe.

Two venues, one night, the full Citixen Joy experience.✌🏽

Last Friday on Juneteenth♥️🖤💚, Root brought The Listening Room spring series home.

Three nights over three months with one throughline: Nurture the Seed, Cultivate, and now Root, closing out at @thesubstationros with @jojosounds’ set that tied it all together.

This series was never just about the music. It was about building something that lasts, with venues, with collaborators, with artists who deserve the platform. Big thanks to Laura and The Substation team for the space, to Mob for the activations, and to everyone who showed up across the season.

Our stint at The Listening Room is done for now. What we built isn’t.🌱

@djbeas 🐝🐝🐝 showed out at @atmidnightmorning for the Late Night Lounge on May 15th. It was a vibe: bar snacks, handcrafted cocktails, and a set that hit from front to back. That’s how we do when we bring a taste of nightlife to Roslindale Square.

Pull up for the next one on Juneteenth (6/19). ♥️🖤💚
