🕺🎉 HERE WE GO! preseason is over and 1st quarter is about to begin. WE GOT OUR OWN ROASTING SPOT IN SUNSET PARK!! I’ve been waiting like a year to announce this. What a journey it has been just to get to this point. Delays and obstacles and more delays and blood sweat and tears literally. Blood and sweat from getting this 2,000lb. roaster inside of this building and plenty of tears. Tears of joy and excitement and frustration and doubt and happiness and everything else in between.

This is crazy and surreal. But I believed in this vision from the very beginning in our little garage set up and believed that this goal would one day happen. (though much quicker than it actually did 😅 but we’re on our own pace and that’s the right pace for us.)

Thank you endlessly to all of you who have been with us from the beginning and those who recently discovered City League and continually support. To our wholesale friends, our out of state and online ordering friends, our subscriber crew, and our shop regulars who’ve become best friends, thank YOU!!! Thanks for giving us a reason and need to roast more coffee. We really love you all. ♥️♥️♥️

And we’ll be operating a cafe outpost on the bottom floor of the building.💥

let’s dance! ITS CITY LEAGUE AND THE UNDERDOGS FOREVER!!! <3

**and you know we had to get the custom city league teal color for the roaster!! by @cityleaguecoffee

IT IS HERE!!!! 😭😭❤️ this is my magnum opus. my thriller to mike jackson. my blueprint to jay z. The most special coffee we have ever released. Sappy post about it all — 🪄🍉✨

A couple months ago I shared about a coffee collab that got to happen with my son and coffee farming importers friends in Colombia, @unblendedcoffee. And this is it!

I hired and paid our 8 year old son to design and name and have creative control over it all. He began late spring and finished it in September. As you can see the transition from the burlap sack to the can packaging. By far the most meaningful of coffee accomplishments and one of the most unique coffees you’ll ever taste too. 🍉

About two years ago my friends Lucas, Sofia, and the crew at @unblendedcoffee in Colombia had the idea of doing a collab..kind of with city league but more so with my son. It made sense since their tagline is “The Future is Young”. Finally everything aligned, timing was right, and we found the perfect coffee that blew me away when I sampled it. My son even tasted it and said “hmm, it’s like jolly ranchers”. (he usually just says “blah..it tastes like coffee” when i force him to try them 😆)

City League began with a few main focuses, one of them being to build this with my family by my side and involved thru it all every step of the way. And I always envisioned many years down the road for them to have their own passions and be able to give them opportunities to explore thru CL. And what a cool feeling it’ll be for my son, whose mind is always on a creative and artistic mode 24/7, to look back on this years from now.

Thank you @unblendedcoffee for making this happen and being the best at what you guys do! This means everything to us! ♥️♥️♥️
WATERMELON MAGIC IS ON THE SITE NOW AND AT THE SHOP!!!🪄🍉

AND, we’ll be doing a bar takeover at @climbingwolf.dobbs with this coffee THIS FRIDAY!
🙌🎉

Also scroll to the last photo. My favorite part of these limited cans we’ve been doing are the silly and dumb general warnings we add. 😁

a gigantic thank you to everyone who spends their hard earned dollars and sacred time with us. From our incredible subscriber community, to the out of state and out of city orders we continually ship… to our deeply appreciated wholesale partners who have trusted us with your coffee, to the ones that fill our shop seats and our souls daily… from my family to yours— we love you and are here because of you and for you. thank YOU!

And to every small business owner, you are a different breed!! you are doing it. 👏🙌 if nobody told you, i am proud of you. it’s a lot. emotions and exhaustion and doubts and insecurities and fear and everything else that nobody sees. some days just showing up and flicking the lights on is an accomplishment in itself. and some days that’s enough. i will always be rooting for you. ❤️

Keep your small businesses and local establishments alive!! encourage them. support them. the world is better without greedy soul sucking corporations.
plus, we have better coffee than they do.
😄😄🙏🙏🙏🙏🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
It’s City League and the underdogs forever!!!!

They’ll share the inspiration behind their fantastical tales and you’ll have an opportunity to grab their signatures! This event will be held at City League Coffee Roasters in Bay Ridge, with books provided by us!

You can save 15% when you purchase with us in-store, online (no checkout code needed), or at the event. Please RSVP at the event listing on our website!

ABOUT THE BOOK

In the mold of Arabian Nights, this groundbreaking YA anthology—featuring seventeen Muslim women writers—links together fantastical stories that a group of refugees tell one another within a riveting frame story.

On her way across the desert, fleeing the soldiers who have destroyed all she knows, one refugee meets another. And another and another. As they travel together, on a journey in search of safety, they take turns telling one another stories—stories woven in the imagination; tales with echoes of the reality they face now. Tales of young people stolen away by jinn and tales of siblings rescuing one another; tales of lands encroached on by settlers and abandoned by rain; tales of magic found in caves, deserts, mountains, lakes, and, above all, in people, community, and faith. With a frame story written by Nafiza Azad and Intisar Khanani interwoven with stories from fifteen additional authors of various backgrounds, drawing on the mythologies and legends of their cultures, this extraordinary collection will appeal to lovers of fantasy and to those looking for books that center refugees and diverse narratives. by @cityleaguecoffee

And we’re back with another roaster showcase, featuring friends old and new. Come by for community, free coffee tastings and maybe grab a bag of coffee to take home. Tickets at the link in our bio. by @cityleaguecoffee

Extra! Extra! Read all about it! 🗞️ Im gonna send this photo to my mother so she can put it front and center on her refrigerator. 😁🤗 Our local neighborhood paper did a great write-up on City League and the gist of what we’re all about, the beginning stages, behind the name City League, and more. I’ve said it a million times, but we’re just a community-hub that’s pushing some really, really good coffee. And we’re just trying to do our noble part in this bogged down wild world. To be a good neighbor, and serve and love others the best we can thru this coffee stuff.

I’d love for you to take a few minutes and give it a read. Link in the story and bio or find your physical copy at several stores and shops throughout the neighborhood.

In a time that’s more noisier than ever, Lorenzo and the team at @the_sunset_post do a great job sharing stories that are genuinely tapped in with the neighborhood. Thank you Lorenzo! I really enjoyed our time together chatting over some coffee. 🗞️🧡

This is what happens when two creative worlds collide! And what an honor it is to have the skill, talent, and wizard-like penmanship of @gouchizm cook this collab up. CITY LEAGUE X GOUCH!

A versatile artist, and nothing short of an absolute nyc graffiti legend. Known for having the freshest handstyles and large scale blockbusters throughout all 5 boroughs.

We began brainstorming over a year ago what we could do together. Finally the timing was right, I threw him an idea and he hit me back with this. 🙌🔥 One of my favorite releases to date and in my fully biased view, some of the best coffee packaging we’ve done. This is all I want to do. Create cool things like this with genuine people like @gouchizm. Thank you sir! For sharing your skills and for your friendship. 🙏

We needed a coffee that matched his style. So this one is a natural anaerobic from Colombia with colorful notes of berries, vanilla, and caramel. Bright, vibrant, and funky!
