🌸 Ladies Day 29 May 2027👇

POSTS STORIES REELS

I thought I understood what a shoot day was about. Turns out, I had it completely wrong.

Our inaugural Cleggan Ladies Day was about so much more than shooting.

The laughter, the conversations, the friendships made. Women arriving as strangers and leaving with a whole new group of local women to shoot with.

It reminded me that community has always been at the heart of Cleggan. And what a community we have. ❤️

A huge thank you to our incredible staff and volunteers, who give their time, energy and enthusiasm to make days like this possible. We genuinely couldn’t do it without you. Some of you have been part of Cleggan for generations, and that makes it all the more special.

And to the wonderful brands and individuals who so generously contributed prizes, THANK YOU!

🎁 @spritzy_botanicals for the organic skincare
🎁 @onthepeg for the vouchers for each and every lady
🎁 @visitglenarmcastle for the annual membership
🎁 @gameandcountryltd for the @lechameau1927 wellies
🎁 @noelmccullough for the beautiful handmade wooden box
🎁 @guns_and_game_ltd for the fabulous hats

We also invested in some rather brilliant Cleggan-branded brollies from @capsnbrollies which went home with our winning team!

Now, the important question…

Pink hats and pink clays for the next Ladies Day? 💗

Because yes, there WILL be another one!

On a clear day, you can see Scotland from here… 👀

Welcome to Episode 03 of The Drives of Cleggan — The Black Butts.

Perched right at the top of the hill, the views stretch across Slemish and County Antrim, with the Sheepry, The Huts, both waterfalls and Lure Cottage all visible below.

But don’t let the view distract you.

The going-away targets test even the best of shots — this is a drive that demands your full concentration.

Would the view put you off… or improve your shooting? 👀

If you could shoot just ONE drive at Cleggan… would this be it? 👀

Welcome to The Drives of Cleggan — a new series taking you around the estate, one drive at a time.

Episode 1: Cherry Rock.

One of our original drives and still one of the most spectacular. High birds launched from the cliff, with views stretching across the Braid Valley towards Ballymena.

But we want to know what you think…

🎯 Would you rather be standing on the peg — or working the trap at the top?

And for those who’ve shot at Cleggan before: which drive should we feature next?

The dogs are beginning to think this is their Instagram account. 🐾

ROUND TWO, LADIES! 🥂💥

After our first Ladies’ Day sold out and turned into something rather special, we knew we had to do it all again.

So, mark your diaries…

Saturday 29th May 2027 — Cleggan Ladies’ Day is BACK!

Expect spectacular simulated shooting, delicious food, cocktails at elevenses (naturally 🍸), plenty of laughs, a few surprises, activities and some fabulous prizes.

And the best bit? All abilities are welcome! Whether you’ve never picked up a gun before or you’re a seasoned shot, there’s a place for you at Cleggan.

But if our first Ladies’ Day taught us anything, it’s that the best part isn’t necessarily the shooting.

It’s the people you meet along the way.

Whether you’re coming with friends or arriving solo, you’ll be in very good company. 💚

Places are limited, and if last time is anything to go by, they won’t hang around!

🎟️ Bookings are now open — link in bio.

Who’s joining us for round two? 👀

***SOLD OUT***

And just like that, we’re back! 🍂

The first day of the game season at Cleggan, and what a day to start.

A bit of glorious autumn sunshine, a bit of traditional Northern Irish rain, plenty of dogs underfoot and some very welcome elevenses.

But the best part? Having everyone back together.

Behind every shoot day at Cleggan is an extraordinary group of volunteers. Many have been part of the estate for years.

They’re the familiar faces, the stories, the laughter and the people who keep Cleggan ticking.

The game season may only last a few months, but the friendships last considerably longer.

Here’s to another season together. 🥂

We came for the shooting. We left with something rather more special. 💚

Twenty photographs that barely scratch the surface of what was a truly magical day at Cleggan.

There were spectacular clays, margaritas at elevenses, some highly questionable welly wangling and enough laughter to echo across the Antrim hills.

But what made our inaugural Ladies Day so special wasn’t the shooting. It was the women.

Some arrived with friends, others came alone. Some were seasoned shots, others relatively new to the sport. A few were more accustomed to being the only woman on a shoot day.

By the afternoon, numbers had been exchanged, new friendships formed and plans made to shoot together again.

And that, for me, was the real success of the day.

Because shooting is about so much more than hitting clays. It’s about getting outdoors, sharing experiences, bringing people together and finding your community.

We set out to host a Ladies Day. I think we might have started something rather special.

Same time next year, ladies? 🥂💚

It took the ladies precisely ONE shoot day to improve the men’s elevenses. 🍸

Margaritas were such a roaring success at our inaugural Cleggan Ladies Day that they’re now officially being introduced to the men’s shoot days too.

You’re welcome, gentlemen.

As for the welly wangling? Things got rather competitive, and one welly is still enjoying the view from a tree!

Margaritas, marshmallows, fabulous food and a healthy dose of organised chaos.

Just your average elevenses at Cleggan.

This is not something you see on your average shoot day. ❤️

And I think that’s what made today so incredibly special.

Our very first Cleggan Ladies Day. And what a day it was.

I’m absolutely exhausted, slightly emotional and still trying to take it all in.

Because today wasn’t really just about the shooting. It was about the women. The laughter. The encouragement. The friendships, old and new. The wonderful sense of community that filled every corner of Cleggan.

Watching all these brilliant women walk across that bridge together, I felt incredibly proud of what we’ve created.

And I think we might just have started something rather special.

There is SO much more to share, but tonight I’m putting my feet up (and possibly pouring a very large glass of wine).

More tomorrow. For now, thank you, ladies. You were magnificent. ❤️

One minute you’re pushing a double buggy.

The next you’re preparing to host 24 women with shotguns and cocktails.

Quite the gear change🥂

Cleggan Ladies Day is THIS SATURDAY and we are so ready for you.

Welcome to The Grouse Butts - Episode 04 of The Drives of Cleggan

Hidden in the Cleggan peat for over a century.

These original grouse butts date back to Cleggan’s days as a shooting estate for the O’Neill family of Shane’s Castle, when grouse were shot across these moors.

Today, we’ve swapped grouse for clays — but kept the adrenaline.

Low, fast orange targets skim across the heather, with the odd crosser thrown in for good measure. It’s quick, instinctive and all about snap shooting.

Load fast. Shoot faster.

Could you keep up? 👀

In hindsight, learning to shoot before organising a Ladies Day might have been sensible.

With 10th October rapidly approaching, it was time to address the minor issue that I couldn’t actually shoot.

The first few clays went brilliantly.

For the clays.

There was swearing. There was confusion. There were… quite a few cartridges.

And then suddenly something clicked. 💡

Huge thanks to my very patient instructor Kev @shootingschool for persevering with me. There’s a LOT of work still to do, but I fear I may have found a new obsession.

Shooting ladies — what was the one thing that made it finally “click” for you?
