A brilliant day at @worcestercathedral for Philip and Cam taking part in the West Midlands Heritage Futures day @wmheritage supported by @heritagefunduk It was great to have a stall in the Cloisters and to be giving tours and talks about our work at the cathedral and the role of architects in heritage and building conservation … Also our first opportunity to go up the scaffold built by @borderscaffoldingltd to the northwest of the tower and see the pinnacles close up with Harry of @awaengineers the amazing Cathedral Masons ably supported by Cathedral Archaeologist Fiona! @spab1877 @the.ihbc @historicengland @cwfcathedrals @heritage_network_uk @riba @ribaworcester @keymertiles #marrons by @clewsarchitects
You may have spotted scaffolding rising alongside the Cathedral in recent weeks! Work is progressing well, and our stonemasons and Cathedral works team will soon begin repairs to the northwest pinnacle as part of our Reaching New Heights project. Watch this timelapse of the scaffold going up, kindly captured for us by Richard Nicholls of @worcesterartscollective and see the project taking shape before your eyes. The Reaching New Heights project is generously supported by @heritagefunduk Find out more about the project and how you can get involved on the link in our bio. #WorcesterCathedral #ReachingNewHeights #HeritageFund #HeritageFundUK #CathedralConservation #HistoricBuildings #StoneMasonry #BehindTheScenes #Timelapse #ArchitectureLovers #GothicArchitecture #Worcester #Heritage #History #Restoration #Craftsmanship #CommunityHeritage #CathedralLife by @clewsarchitects
On Friday we downed tools and headed to London for some really excellent building tours and CPD. Thank you so much to Kirstie at Ptolemy Dean for showing us around Westminster Abbey and their site for the new Sacristy as well as the Queens Diamond Jubilee galleries. Fascinating projects and a real privilege to understand these projects in more detail. Thanks also to Chris Stobbart at EngineersHRW who very kindly guided us around the recently completed Feilden Fowles projects at the Natural History Museum. Again it was so lovely to scrape beneath the surface and learn more about all the processes we encounter on our own projects. And a special mention to our own Alex for giving us a tour of his part 1 project for the 7/7 Memorial Garden. by @clewsarchitects
Our collaboration with @aiglonswitzerland , continues with the design of a new Music Teaching and Practice Facility within the heart of the school campus. The new building will sit adjacent the recently completed MCH development, reinforcing the Campus hub as a place for gathering, community and reflection. The facilities will include a 100 seat Recital Space, Recording Studios and a suite of Music Teaching and Practice Rooms. Looking forward to seeing this on site and enjoying the continued, working collaboration with @cp_groupe and PM David Flight. #independantschools #schooldesign #collaboration #performingarts #musiceducation by @clewsarchitects

A typical day in the life of Exeter Cathedral as a Cathedral Architect … so think buildings and those involved in all things fabric … @finlaycamilla Thursday was the first Fabric Advisory Committee (FAC) meeting of the new quinquennium and we were joined by representatives of CBG and Solotech presenting samples for equipment, materials and colours ahead of the works to replace the sound and lighting systems at the west end close up and in position … We visited the dedication stone recently carved by our Clerk of Works, Chris Sampson, for Arthur Mawson (Canon Treasurer) and his wife Pamela … We looked at some of the finds recovered in a local excavation monitored by our Cathedral Archaeologists - John and Anna… We had a roof tour to look at areas of lead that we want to recover over the next few years if we can get the funding and to see the lapidarian (stone store) above the South Transept … And most importantly we had a visit from Emma (from Clews team) and Steve! #visitexeter @exetercathedral @solotech_uk_group @cbgconsultantsltd @cbg_light_perceptions #cathedral #fabricadvisorycommittee #fac @thechurchofengland #churchbuildings by @clewsarchitects
The journey to rebuild All Saints Church in Mudeford is moving forward at pace - the roof structure is arriving on site and being carefully lifted into position … All Saints Church was destroyed by fire in July 2022 and since then the church community have been working so hard to rebuild their listed church building and community centre … We have been enjoying acting as the Architects and Principal Designers for the project - working closely with the church team, loss adjusters and design team through the design development, approvals process and on site to deliver this important capital works and restoration project… Last week another milestone passed, our Main Contractors Randell Construction, received the steel frame and the team on site are lifting the elements into place to from the roof… Thanks to Paul from the church team for the drone photos … @cofewinchester #randellconstruction #mudeford @marvinchikstudios @awaengineers #churchbuilding #firedamage #listedbuilding @bakermallett @chrisreadingassociates @crawco_cat @thechurchtimes @thechurchofengland by @clewsarchitects

Fantastic night at the RIBA South Awards ceremony last night, we are absolutely delighted to have received a 2026 RIBA South Award. This project was a massive collaborative effort by the entire design team, the contractor and an amazing client so we are especially proud to have also received three further Special Awards on the night as follows: •Client of the Year Award for the team at the Branch. •Conservation Award •Project Architect of the Year Award for Alex Stevens. Thank you to everyone who has contributed the project in any way and the RIBA, but especially the jury members for visiting and engaging so positively with the project, we are all very grateful! “The Branch Community Centre in Chipping Norton is testament to a courageous and determined client and project team and the power of collaboration and community. Created through adaptive reuse of a listed former bank building, it provides an inclusive and welcoming hub for a vital community support service at the heart of the town…… The project has created a new heart for the local community embedded in the town centre’s high street, and revitalised an ailing historic asset. It provides an exemplar prototype for how declining heritage buildings and redundant high-street spaces can be saved and repurposed to benefit their local communities.” Clare Taggart, RIBA South Jury Chair Link to full citation in bio.
