Most people who follow this page have no idea who I actually am.

I’ve never put the whole thing in one place before. So here it is — the lowest point, the year where I spun my wheels, the people who shaped it, and why I ended up building out CT3

I don’t come from the fitness world. I came from being the kid who hated how he looked and had no idea where to start.

Now I get to be the person I needed back then, for men who’ve built everything except their body.

If you make it to the end — tell me one thing about you I wouldn’t know. I’ll read every one. 🖤 by @cliftontantfitness

“I’m 50 and competing against guys half my age.” 🎾

Meet Peter — competitive paddle player, 4-6x a week, tournaments included.

He used to train like he was 25: skip the stretching, five-minute warmup, go hard, hope for the best. That works... until it doesn’t.

At 50, recovery isn’t optional. Mobility isn’t optional. And “just showing up” isn’t enough to compete with players half his age.

So we rebuilt his training around his body and his season:

→ Heavy lifting when he’s building strength
→ Mobility + flexibility + recovery when a tournament is 2 weeks out
→ A program that adapts to him — not the other way around

The result? He’s not just keeping up. He’s competing.

If you’re training hard but still feel like your body is working against you — that’s not a “getting older” problem. That’s a “training smarter” problem.

6 habits that beat “drink more water.” 💧❌

Hydration and step counts aren’t bad advice.
They’re just too vague to change anything.

If you’re 40+ and busy, specific beats general every time:

1. Protein at breakfast, not just coffee
2. A 10-minute walk after your biggest meal
3. The same wake-up time, 7 days a week
4. Caffeine cut off 8+ hours before bed
5. Every lift logged, one number to beat
6. Workouts on the calendar like client meetings

None of these take motivation.
They take structure.

Comment “STRUCTURE” and I’ll send you the framework I give all my clients. 👇

Stop comparing yourself. Everyone starts somewhere.

The people you’re measuring against just have more days in than you. That’s the whole gap.

One run does nothing. Three hundred changes who you are.

Do the day. Then the next one. And pull somebody along with you. by @cliftontantfitness

Most people over 35 don’t get hurt running. They get hurt in the 10 minutes before it.

7 things you should do before you run:

1. Drink 12–16 oz of water in the hour before. Dehydrated tissue is stiffer tissue.
2. Eat something small if it’s been more than 4–5 hours. Running on empty isn’t discipline, it’s a stress load.
3. Warm up dynamically — leg swings, hip openers, glute bridges. Not static stretching. Holding a stretch cold does nothing for injury risk.
4. Walk or jog easy for 5 minutes before you touch your real pace. Tissue needs temperature before it needs speed.
5. Check your shoe mileage. Most trainers are done between 300–500 miles, and the cushioning dies long before the upper looks worn.
6. Decide your route and distance before you leave. Unplanned runs turn into ego runs.
7. Start slower than you want to. If you can’t talk in full sentences, you’re not building your engine — you’re just accumulating damage.

Your joints don’t warm up on the first mile. They absorb it.

The prep is what makes the run repeatable. And repeatable is the only thing that has ever changed anyone’s body.

Structure over motivation. Every time. by @cliftontantfitness

Come run 10 miles with me & @44_magnus

10 miles isn’t just about fitness — it’s about knowing how to fuel and hydrate your body so you can actually finish strong.

A few things I focused on:

• 💧 Hydration: Start hydrated and drink consistently throughout the run. Don’t wait until you’re extremely thirsty.
• ⚡️ Fuel: For longer runs, carbs are your friend. I like to take in roughly 50–100g of carbs per hour depending on pace, duration, and individual tolerance.
• 🧂 Electrolytes: Especially in the heat, replacing sodium and other electrolytes can help support fluid balance.
• 🍌 Before the run: A carb-focused meal/snack 1–3 hours beforehand can give you energy without sitting too heavy.
• 🏃‍♂️ Pace: The goal isn’t to win the first mile. Start controlled and leave enough in the tank to finish strong.

The biggest lesson: endurance is something you train, but so is fueling.

Save this for your next long run. by @cliftontantfitness

Your run isn’t the workout that matters. The next 2 hours are. 🏃

5 things I don’t do after a run:

1️⃣ Sit straight down. Walk 5–10 minutes. Your heart rate needs a gradual landing, not a crash.

2️⃣ Skip protein. Aim for 20–40g in the next couple hours. Recovery happens at the table, not the finish line.

3️⃣ Stay in sweaty clothes. Shower and change fast. Less chafing, less irritation, and you feel human again for your 9am.

4️⃣ “Earn” a binge. A few miles burns less than most people think. One reward meal can erase it.

5️⃣ Forget water. Rehydrate before the coffee. Especially if you ran fasted.

You don’t need more motivation. You need a system you follow even on busy days.

“I’m tired.”

Of course you are. Six hours of sleep, three coffees, and junk food at the office is the problem.

Being tired isn’t the workout’s fault…

The 60-hour week did that + the 11pm inbox + the 400-calorie “lunch” you called a meal did that.

The hour in the gym is the one part of your day that gives energy back instead of taking it.

You’re never going to feel ready at 5:30am. I sure as hell don’t

It’s on the calendar though, so go.

And an hour later you’re a different person for the rest of the day. Trust me by @cliftontantfitness

It wasn’t my fault. It’s still my responsibility. Most people wait until they feel motivated to start over. That’s why they never do. I don’t run because I feel like it — I run because it’s on the calendar and the calendar doesn’t care how I feel. Structure is what carries you when motivation doesn’t show up. Apply in bio by @cliftontantfitness

You didn’t lack discipline. You lacked a plan built for a calendar like yours.

Most people training around a real job aren’t under-working — they’re under-structured.

Random sessions. Exercises swapped every week. No progression. No idea what week 8 is supposed to look like, so week 8 looks exactly like week 1.

That’s not a motivation problem. It’s a programming problem.

A plan that survives a 55-hour week does four things:

→ Sets a session count you can hold on your worst week, not your best one
→ Progresses load instead of just rotating movements
→ Gives protein and step targets you can hit from a hotel room
→ Builds in a deload before you stall, not after

Structure beats intensity every time — because structure is the only thing that holds when the quarter gets busy.

Comment STRUCTURE and I’ll send you the 12-week phase breakdown my clients run. by @cliftontantfitness

Motivation is not the thing you’re missing.

The people who stay lean aren’t the ones who wanted it more. They built a week that still runs when they’re busy, tired, and three time zones from their gym.

Discipline is what you need when your plan only works on a good day. Build a plan that works on a bad one and you need a lot less of it.

Comment STRUCTURE and I’ll send you the 12-week framework.
