I'm really proud of this calendar. The shift is so visible and the progress is tangible.

It wasnt perfect.

Perfection wasn't the goal.

It used to be. It was be perfect or I'm a failure. I am still learning what holding a standard looks like and what it means WITHOUT shame, guilt, shutdown and quitting and restarting.

This is what progress looks like. This is what having a process to trust. Everything wasn't curated. I didnt miss out on trips or family time.

I grew more intentional, started a new hobby/sport, hired a coach who GETS IT. I also committed to myself. I committed to love myself regardless of my fear, frustration, disappointment, excitement, and growing pains. Love is clear. Love is kind. Love isnt permissive. Love seeks to understand. I applied love and things are getting easier. by @coach_steph.seeley

Oh 2016? Don't know her.

What a year. The wanderlust started, some of my lowest and highest moments in life. My identity was my body, my performance, and meal prep.

Yoga, lifting, training.

Paul and I started our relationship on my birthday 10 years ago.

Here's to the next decade. Can't wait. by @coach_steph.seeley

Lifting isn't always deep (pun intended) but each time I find myself saying things like "but I can't, but I should, but I should have" I know I'm telling a story to avoid a feeling, avoid growth, repeat a pattern.

Commitments and habits challenges have very little to do with the "thing." These challenges are about staying committed to showing up, doing the work you need to in order to show up. They are a vehicle to be honest with yourself, your fears, your limiting beliefs and to challenge them, grow through them, and become who you are meant to be.

Squatting for fun. Taking my advice from Cardi B. Day 1- ✅ by @coach_steph.seeley

"I wish I could be the kind of girl who could eat at the pool, in a swimsuit."

I used to have that thought multiple times every summer.

Oh to be a "skinny girl" who didn't fear the judgment of strangers- the kind of girl who could just be, just do, what she wanted, just EAT BECAUSE SHE WAS HUNGRY.

I thought that kind of freedom came from being thin, perfect, hairless, acne-less, and having the right swimwear.

My punishment for being chubby was deep self-consciousness. "If I were smaller, I could just have fun, not worry. No one would judge me. I would be allowed to eat."

But that wasn't it.

My path to freedom didn't come by conforming. It didn't come from affirmation. It didn't come from people around me telling me "don't worry! Those people don't matter!"

It came from doing the work of discovering what I believed to be true about myself and forgiving those misunderstandings. It didn't come from curating an environment free of judgement, but from learning to believe "I can still be safe, secure, connected EVEN WHEN people judge me, tease me, or even make fun of me."

When I understood that my okayness came from my own love, acceptance and understanding, the thoughts of others, the criticism, the judgement wasn't hurtful.

My okayness isn't conditional on my appearance, my discipline, my productivity or my body type. My freedom comes from my own capacity to accept myself, to be with myself and my own deep sense of unconditional and innate worth.

Freedom became available to me. If I'm hungry, I eat. Even with a belly, even in a swimsuit, even with hairy legs or a zit. It wasn't because I lost weight, or just "got over it." Freedom came from building capacity to hear, see, and feel judged without making it mean I'm "wrong" or bad or gross.

Are there things I may want to change? Yes. Will making those changes make me kinder, more loveable, funnier, or more worthy? ABSOLUTELY NOT. If I make a change, does it mean I'm a better coach, wife, sister, friend? Hell nah.

All it means is that I can own my responsibility, choose my path and continually act in a way that aligns with my goals.
