For every bilateral lower body pushing exercise, there should be a unilateral or at least two to counter it. Working the deficit is key to building single leg strength and stability as sports are played that way. Hatfield reverse lunge is one of my favorite go to exercises as they can help through sticking points and still allow for a good amount of load to be distributed across the joints and soft tissues. #strengthandconditioning #sportsperformancetraining @sorinex @powerliftequipment by @coachosbornsc

Football conditioning does not have to be long, slow, tired. Things I like the guys to focus on is sprint repeatability. In this case these sprints. (pyramid sprints.) it increases from a short distance to a long distance where you basically climb the pyramid. It simulates the play Clock and rest periods while the technical aspects of sprinting need to be addressed when the athletes start to get to get fatigued. I never go above 40 yards and after each segment the athletes get a three to a 3 1/2 minute break before the next pyramid. 3 to 4 pyramids by the end of summer is a great way to build up speed, endurance!#strengthandconditioning #sportsperformancetraining #highschoolfootball #maxpreps #football @cherrycreekfootball by @coachosbornsc

These guys are getting faster! (15+10yd fly). Wait til the end of the vid to see times and mph. Great max velocity effort day! #strengthandconditioning #sportsperformancetraining #maxpreps #highschoolfootball #football @nscahighschool @cherrycreekfootball @coachceddy @nvinson00 @tanner_gentry_4 @k_mack_9 Jarvis moss, Julian banks. @tatetalk89 @detbetti by @coachosbornsc

Version #2. Lateral shuffle and crossover runs working shin angles and hip rotations. Shin angles tell the body where it’s going! #sportsperformancetraining #strengthandconditioning #maxpreps #highschoolfootball by @coachosbornsc

This vid is a bit longer. I’m all for coaches who praise how fast an athlete can run, but what about how adequate and efficiently they can stop? Athletes can stop anywhere from 2 to 3 times their body weight up to 5 to 7 times their body weight. If we look at an elite athlete that can sprint more than 20 mph, and they weigh approximately 200 pounds, six times their body weight is over 1200 pounds of force when coming to a full stop From a full out sprint! Crazy to think about. But this is when most athletes get injured or things happen that we don’t want to happen. I use this segment every week on a change of direction/deceleration emphasis day. It takes roughly about 3 to 4 minutes total to get the CNS prepped as well as the athletes learning to breakdown and stop themselves! #sportsperformancetraining #strengthandconditioning #maxpreps #highschoolfootball @nhssca @nscahighschool @cherrycreekfootball by @coachosbornsc

Max Velocity/Pre-contact day. Had a ton of guys hitting nearly 20 miles an hour on a 10+10 fly sprint, with the average being around 18 miles an hour! Increasing to 20 yard flys next!
