Five years ago, almost to the minute, I was sitting in the car with Zach, begging him to keep telling me that my dad was gone. I couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t make it make sense. Some days, I still can’t. Some days feel like we were just at home together. Other days, it feels so far away that I question if he was ever even real at all. It sounds like an exaggeration, but if you’ve lost someone you love deeply, you get it. Five years ago, I couldn’t have ever imagined being here. I didn’t think I could endure it. I didn’t know what continuing to grieve my dad would look like. Even now, on my happiest days, I’m still a little sad. Like 90 percent happy, and 10 percent sad. It’s still the first thing I think about when I wake up, and the last thing I think of before I fall asleep. It shows up in quiet moments throughout ordinary days. I knew today was going to feel heavier, so I went back and looked at the last five years. All the moments. All the memories. All the life that’s happened since my dad died. Five years ago, I didn’t think I would ever feel okay again. The pain was emotionally and physically crippling. I couldn’t imagine a life that felt happy or meaningful without my Dad in it. But my life grew around my grief. Don’t get me wrong, there’s been a lot of crying over the years… wanting to talk to him about losing him and having him console me. But there’s also been so much laughter and moments I wish I could share with him. It’s taken me a long time to accept the fact that I’ll always be a little sad. There’s nothing I can do about it other than accept it and carry it with me as proof of him… my love for him… the future and life I thought he would be part of. If you’re missing someone, you can feel a little sad and still live happily, meaningfully, purposefully, and still build a life that’s full 🤍 by @coachstephy_

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE QUEEN 🩵👑 A big, fat, ginormous HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my girl, Nana Lana! 🩷 Lana is the leader of the hype crew for every person she meets. She shows up for anyone and everyone, at all hours of the day (unless it’s before 8am 😴) She’s constantly thinking of new ways to encourage, support, and push the people around her to test themselves and try new things. Her love for fitness and exercise extends so far beyond her own journey. She genuinely wants to see everyone around her succeed, and she’s always finding ways to make that happen. “Pre should do the deadlift competition… Cam should try out the pull-up competition… I think this would be really good for Robyn… I think Zach can beat his old score and should do it again…” She’s always thinking about other people, dreaming up new challenges for them, and finding ways to cheer them on She’s travelled to Columbus, Ohio… Miami, Florida… Knoxville, Tennessee… Cookeville, Tennessee… and so many other places JUST to support people who are competing. She doesn’t just cheer you on from the sidelines… she SHOWS UP I love you, missy! You’re one of the most thoughtful, supportive, and genuinely caring people I know. You’re a feisty, fiery, powerhouse of a woman with the most finely painted, crooked crypt fingers that ever did exist LOVE YOU 💙 by @coachstephy_

Getting to know Taylor over the years has been one of the greatest experiences I’ve had as a coach. Somewhere along the way, she went from being my client to becoming one of my closest friends. I’ve had the privilege of watching Taylor grow through so many chapters. From a multi-sport varsity athlete who would tune into our COVID Zoom WODs…To a motivated CrossFitter looking for her next challenge as she wrapped up her university career…Then to an athlete who started to realize that she could be good at this sport if she truly committed herself to it. Taylor dove head-first into the world of competitive CrossFit. She started chasing online qualifiers, signing up for competitions, travelling for in-person comps, and putting her trust in a coach that would encourage her to challenge herself mentally and physically. T didn’t just fall in love with competing... she fell in love with the sport..So much so that she decided to become a CF L-1 Trainer and start coaching others. I’ve watched her become more confident, more resilient, more disciplined, and more willing to bet on herself. I’ve gotten to experience her highs, her lows, her disappointments, her breakthroughs, and all of the moments in between. And through every competition, every qualifier, every training session, every road trip and every night on the road with her mouth guard and Mario Badescu-covered face, I’ve been lucky enough to be beside her. Lil T.. Wherever this chapter takes you, I hope you know that I’ll always be in your corner no matter where you go!! I’m so proud of the athlete you’ve become, but even more proud of the person you’ve grown into 🤍 by @coachstephy_
