@grandnationalchampionshipsgnc recap! 💙✨

I think sometimes we get so caught up in working and giving to others that we forget about our own goals. And it’s so important to have people around us who push us and remind us of that.

I probably wouldn’t have competed this time around because lately my main focus has been teaching to the best of my abilities, learning and pouring as much as I can into the studio. But I think I sometimes forget that I’m still on my own journey too. I still have so much to work on, so much to learn, and things I want to accomplish for myself.

I think for anyone who spends so much of their time giving to others, whether that’s through teaching, creating, or being a parent, it’s easy to put your own goals aside and find reasons to keep doing so.

Competing this time reminded me how much I love training and having something to work towards for myself. It also made me realize how grateful I am to be able to do this in the first place. Rather than just going through the motions or feeling like I had to get it done, I genuinely enjoyed the process.

It was a little push I didn’t know I needed and a reminder that I still have a long way to go, and a lot more I want to learn 💗 by @cocachoreography

Dance should be celebrated. Learning should be celebrated. Growth should be celebrated ✨

A team should challenge you to be better and do better. Competition can be a beautiful thing when it pushes you to step it up, work harder, and discover what you’re capable of, but there’s nothing better than healthy competition where you can want more for yourself and still genuinely celebrate the person next to you.

These dancers are growing together, but they’re also growing up together. They’re learning how to navigate their own experiences, how to struggle, fail, try again, stay determined, and keep showing up.

Dance studios have the opportunity to make such a big impact on the people our dancers are becoming, not only better dancers, but disciplined, supportive, resilient humans who aren’t afraid to fail and try again.

I started ballroom because it was something I had always wanted to do but never really had the opportunity to pursue at the time. At first, it was simply for fun and a chance for me to dance again. Teaching it wasn’t even something I considered because I’ve always believed that I shouldn’t teach something I don’t truly know, understand, and feel confident in.

But as I continued training, I realized how many dancers around me weren’t getting the opportunity to learn ballroom either, so little by little, I decided to give teaching it a shot.

A huge reason I felt confident enough to take that step was because I have an incredible instructor who doesn’t just teach me the steps. He takes the time to explain every little detail, the technique, the why behind it, and slowly build a real foundation with me that we continue to build on today.

His knowledge gave me the confidence to start sharing what I was learning with my own dancers, while still remaining a student myself.

There are so many years ahead of me to grow and keep learning but I am forever grateful to @ivan_mulyavka @miami_ballroompro_ivan_karin for sharing his knowledge and years of experience with me in every lesson 🙏 by @cocachoreography

💌 To my girls:
I feel the luckiest every day to watch you grow, to teach you what I know and to learn so that I can pour into you all even more. Not only my knowledge for dance but for life. I hope you learn to love dance for what it is, I hope you learn to love each other and work as one, but most importantly, I hope you learn to love the journey because it is a special one and ours is just getting started.
Forever my biggest blessing 👑💕 by @cocachoreography

a little stronger, a little more confident, a little better every time! that’s the goal 🤍

Building the foundation one detail at a time 💃🏻 Making sure the basics are taught, understood, and actually applied before moving on. The little details are what make the difference ✨
