Today we said goodbye to my dog, Oopsie. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. For sixteen and a half years, she filled my life, and so many others’, with love, joy, and laughter. The years flew by, and no amount of time would ever have felt like enough. My heart is broken, but she let us know she was ready, and she was able to pass peacefully at home, surrounded by love. I’m so grateful for every moment I had with her. We will miss you forever, sweet Oopsie. 💔🐾 by @cocolavine
So much change is happening! I couldn’t be more excited to share that I’m pregnant! Performing this summer while pregnant has been one of the hardest challenges of my career (Swan Lake was particularly difficult lol). I have endless admiration for any dancer who has done the same. Before I knew I was pregnant, @wheeldony invited me to join the cast of An American in Paris, which will be touring to Geneva. I was beyond excited about this opportunity. While I’ve stepped back from that dream, I’m stepping into a new one. I hope to return to dancing in some way after I give birth because ballet and dance will always be my first love. To the @abtofficial dancers, stage managers, and staff who supported me in my first trimester, I honestly can’t thank you enough. Your kindness, excitement, and encouragement carried me through some incredibly exhausting days. Knowing I had such a strong circle of support meant the world to me. 🙏🏾 Here are some moments from this summer of dancing while pregnant. Last slide… meet my little one 🫧🍼 #pregnant #pregnancyjourney #ballet #dance by @cocolavine
If you had told me that my final show with ABT would look like it did this past Saturday matinee, I don’t think I would have believed you. I couldn’t have imagined a more meaningful way to close out over 15 years in and around this company. I felt so deeply loved and supported by the dancers, the staff, and everyone who reached out or came to the show. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. @wheeldony, thank you for creating such a beautiful ballet and for giving me the opportunity to perform Paulina, even as I prepared to leave the company. It was a dream role and a dream come true. Thank you @nrh448 @carloslopeznewyork and @amanda_mckerrow for preparing me for Paulina this time around. I’m going to miss these incredible dancers so much… but I know I’ll see them again whenever I’m back in New York. And I’m so excited for this next chapter in London! Thank you for the kind messages, the hugs, the words, and the love. I’m truly overwhelmed with gratitude. ❤️ #lastshow #grateful #ballet #dancers #friends by @cocolavine
Back in 2016, I was performing my first soloist role with ABT. Mid performance, the ribbons on one of my pointe shoes came completely undone. I was mortified coming off stage, so disappointed in myself, but @cassandratrenary was there, kneeling to tie my ribbons back up, and gave me the reassurance I needed. Cassie is not only an incredible prima ballerina, a fierce ally, and a gifted photographer, but she’s also one of the kindest people I’ve ever known. She treats everyone with respect and warmth, regardless of rank, background, or story. I’m beyond thrilled for her next chapter as a principal dancer in Vienna State Ballet, and dare I say, selfishly excited because I’ll be a quick flight away in London to see her shine in new roles. I love you so much, Cass. Congratulations on your last performance with @abtofficial. Excited to continue our adventures together. 🥂❤️ #friendforlife #ballet #cassandratrenary #dance by @cocolavine
A moment for this dress ✨ I wanted to wear something special for my last @abtofficial Spring Gala. So many of you have reached out asking if I’ll continue dancing once I move to London this August, and the answer is yes! I’ll be sharing more soon, but I’m incredibly excited for what’s ahead. ❤️ Thank you so much @thepjpascual for styling me in this beautiful @bachmai gown. @rogervivier @alexandrebirman #abtofficial #abtspringgala #ballet by @cocolavine
