POSTS STORIES REELS

Roll up, roll up for the greatest show on earth - well, the greatest show in Shields anyway.

Hundreds of negronis, a few too many grappas, countless conversations and more fish and chips than you'd care to wave a salt shaker at - your wait is over.

From Barga to South Shields is out now on YouTube.

100 years of the Colmans family's story of migration, graft and belonging, and how a hillside town in Tuscany helped shape a North East seaside town.

Thank you to the Colmans family for letting us in.

Last Sunday we gave it one final big-screen send-off to a full house at The Glasshouse.

Now it's your turn.

🎟️ Watch it now on YouTube - it's free, there's no queue, and you don't even need salt and vinegar

📣 Share it with every Sandancer you know, and the ones who moved away

💬 Drop your Colmans memory in the comments.

The best seat in the house is wherever you're sat.

On a serious note. We're North East storytellers, and we care about how this region is seen.

Too often our stories are told by people passing through, shaped to fit someone else's idea of who we are. We want the North East presented on its own terms, by the people who live it.

And we want to find the stories hiding in plain sight, the ones behind the counter, down the street, in the family album, and make sure they're told before they're lost.

So if you enjoyed the show, help us put on another by sharing, tagging, commenting and subscribing to our channels.

SOMETHING HOT & FISHY IS GOING ON IN THE GRAINGER MARKET. 🐟

Turns out you lot really liked that Colmans fish sandwich.

After the ridiculous response to our collab with the legends at @colmansfishandchips earlier this year, we thought it’d be a bit daft to never make it again.

So we’re bringing it back.

THE COLMANS HOT FISH SANDWICH.

Same sandwich. Different surroundings.

This time we’re squeezing it into our little Grainger Market kitchen, in the OG Meat:Stack.

If you had one last time, you’ll understand. If you didn’t, we’re not really sure what you were doing.

Available from tomorrow as a special at Meat:Stack Grainger Market.

You’re welcome 🙏 by @colmansfishandchips

LAST CALL 🎬

This is it - final few tickets for Local Heroes Presents 'Out and About with The Colmans', screening this Sunday at The Glasshouse.

Here's a little taste of what's in store 👆

A hundred years.

Four generations.

One remarkable journey.

It started in a small town in Tuscany, carried on to selling cinder toffee on Shields Market Square, and grew into the fish and chip family that the region knows and loves.

This is the story of how the Colmans became part of the fabric of South Shields.

Join us for the screening + a live conversation with the family.

It's a chance to celebrate a century of graft and to hear the stories that don't make it onto the menu.

Every penny from the night goes to The Colmans Foundation, giving back to the town that has stood by them for 100 years.

If you've ever queued on Ocean Road, had your tea at The Temple, or grown up with Colmans as part of your Shields story, this one's for you.

See you there 🐟

🎬 ONE WEEK TO GO!

We’re just one week away from celebrating our centenary — and we’re taking a look back at the people, places and stories that have shaped 100 years of Colmans. 🐟

From tracing our roots back to Italy, to the Fish & Chip Festival, and hearing from some of our incredible local heroes, our centenary documentary celebrates where we’ve come from and the community that has been part of the journey.

🎟️ Just a few tickets remaining - get them in the link in the bio!

And importantly, all profits from ticket sales will go to charity. ❤️

Join us for a very special evening celebrating 100 years of Colmans.

One week. 100 years. One unforgettable night. 🐟🥂 by @colmansfishandchips

Limited tickets remaining 🎟️

From Tuscany to Tyneside. Barga to South Shields.

A year of Negronis, collaborations, Royal visits and weddings - our relationship with the Colmans is something special.

They trusted us to tell their story, and we set out to do it the way we always do - honestly, patiently, and with the people at the heart of it doing the talking.

On Sunday 11th October, From Barga to South Shields - Out and About with The Colmans comes to the Glasshouse, Gateshead, and tickets are now limited.

A Local Heroes Production created to mark Colmans' Centenary, the film follows the family back to their ancestral home in Tuscany, uncovering the stories, traditions and values that shaped generations and helped define a much-loved South Shields institution.

It's also a film about how places are made, the people who shape our towns, cities and culture and how one family's story becomes part of a region's identity.

Join us for an evening of film, conversation and reflection as we celebrate 100 years of Colmans and the unexplored bond between Barga and South Shields.

Hot Fish Sarnie > literally everything else. 🥵🐟

Our @colmansfishandchips collab is flying out the fryer quicker than cod on Good Friday. 😮‍💨

Here’s a few reasons why you should run to your local MEAT:STACK like right now:

🎣 Panko breaded cod
🌶️ Dipped in Nashville Hot oil
🤤 Ranch tartare sauce
🧀 American cheese
🥒 House pickles
🥬 Lettuce

AND. You can get chips drenched in Colmans curry sauce on the side???

If you need anymore reasons… I’m afraid you’re a lost cause. 🫡

Get them before they’re gone.
And by gone… we mean Allan will scran the lot.

The Hot Fish Sarnie that broke the internet.

Throwback to our launch night at @fenwickofficial where we fried, battered, seasoned and served up the North’s biggest culinary collab (we think so anyway). 🐟🍔

Thanks to everyone who came down to celebrate n get fishy with it. Some say it was spicy. We said it was iconic. ❤️‍🔥

And you can still grab yours from our Bigg Market burger palace! Come and tell us it’s mint. 🫡

Hot fish sarnies inhaled.
Salt & vinegar fries seasoned.
Stotties buttered.
Beers drank.

Thank you to everyone who came down to celebrate our 🎣 + 🍔 love child that started with “this would be a mint idea”…

And it is. ❤️‍🔥🧂🤪

Our HOT FISH SARNIE and all the trimmings available now from our Newcastle shop.

THE NORTH EAST FOOD COLLAB OF THE YEAR HAS ARRIVED 🍔 🐟

Stop what you’re doing. To mark 100 years of @colmansfishandchips and 10 years of @meatstackuk , these two local legends have just dropped a limited-edition menu, and you’ve only got 4 weeks to try it. 📖

We headed along to a VIP preview at Colman’s in @fenwickofficial to get a first taste of this belta collaboration before it officially launches. 🚀

We tried The Colmans Tray:

🍔 Hot Fish Sandwich: panko-breaded cod dipped in Nashville hot oil, topped with Ranch Tartare, American cheese, pickles & lettuce.
🍟 Curry Chips: Beef dripping fries tossed in salt & vinegar seasoning, served with a pot of Colmans curry sauce, Nashville scraps, Ranch Tartare dip and a stottie wedge.
🫖 Dandelion Iced Tea: Spiced rum, cold brew tea, dandelion cordial & lemon juice, served in a teapot with a cup and saucer (can also be made alcohol-free!).

The verdict? = Purely Belta 👌🏼
