POSTS STORIES REELS

Yesterday was a truly special day in South Shields as we welcomed HRH The Princess Royal to Colmans Seafood Temple to celebrate the 100th anniversary of our family business.

From time spent with our family, team, and the people who helped shape our story, to sharing a plate of our fish and chips with tartare sauce, it was a day full of pride, gratitude, and community.

Thank you to our amazing team, our loyal customers, and everyone who has walked this journey with us. by @colmansseafoodtemple

Another visit to @colmansseafoodtemple in South Shields last night and I was thoroughly impressed with the food as always…

We started with the mussels and Soufflé Arnold Bennett. I went for the soufflé, which was absolutely delicious. Beautifully light and fluffy with a golden top, served in a rich, creamy sauce. Easily one of the highlights of the meal.

For mains, we tried the half lobster with chips, seafood curry and sea bass. I went for the sea bass, which was cooked perfectly with beautifully crispy skin, served with brown shrimp, greens and a buttery sauce. Such a lovely combination of flavours and another seriously impressive dish.

The restaurant itself is a gorgeous setting too, with views out across the seafront and a lovely atmosphere. It feels that little bit special without being overly formal.

Really couldn’t fault either of my dishes and would definitely recommend a visit if you’re a seafood lover!

Roll up, roll up for the greatest show on earth - well, the greatest show in Shields anyway.

Hundreds of negronis, a few too many grappas, countless conversations and more fish and chips than you'd care to wave a salt shaker at - your wait is over.

From Barga to South Shields is out now on YouTube.

100 years of the Colmans family's story of migration, graft and belonging, and how a hillside town in Tuscany helped shape a North East seaside town.

Thank you to the Colmans family for letting us in.

Last Sunday we gave it one final big-screen send-off to a full house at The Glasshouse.

Now it's your turn.

🎟️ Watch it now on YouTube - it's free, there's no queue, and you don't even need salt and vinegar

📣 Share it with every Sandancer you know, and the ones who moved away

💬 Drop your Colmans memory in the comments.

The best seat in the house is wherever you're sat.

On a serious note. We're North East storytellers, and we care about how this region is seen.

Too often our stories are told by people passing through, shaped to fit someone else's idea of who we are. We want the North East presented on its own terms, by the people who live it.

And we want to find the stories hiding in plain sight, the ones behind the counter, down the street, in the family album, and make sure they're told before they're lost.

So if you enjoyed the show, help us put on another by sharing, tagging, commenting and subscribing to our channels.

A platter worth gathering for!🦞

Our hot seafood platter, simply roasted in garlic and chilli butter and served ready to get stuck into. Usually shared between two, but certainly not compulsory - we won’t judge!

See you soon at Colmans Seafood Temple. 🐟 by @colmansseafoodtemple

LAST CALL 🎬

This is it - final few tickets for Local Heroes Presents 'Out and About with The Colmans', screening this Sunday at The Glasshouse.

Here's a little taste of what's in store 👆

A hundred years.

Four generations.

One remarkable journey.

It started in a small town in Tuscany, carried on to selling cinder toffee on Shields Market Square, and grew into the fish and chip family that the region knows and loves.

This is the story of how the Colmans became part of the fabric of South Shields.

Join us for the screening + a live conversation with the family.

It's a chance to celebrate a century of graft and to hear the stories that don't make it onto the menu.

Every penny from the night goes to The Colmans Foundation, giving back to the town that has stood by them for 100 years.

If you've ever queued on Ocean Road, had your tea at The Temple, or grown up with Colmans as part of your Shields story, this one's for you.

See you there 🐟

🎟️ Just a few tickets remaining - get them in the link in the bio!

And importantly, all profits from ticket sales will go to charity. ❤️
