Art & Light

Philosopher, Style Icon and thespian (and so much more) @jp.michaels in art and light. This shoot became the catalyst for us both to launch @conceptus.ca , our joint venture where we will be fearlessly creating in service of enlightenment.

When I proposed the idea to JP of photographing him with long exposures and light painting, he literally brought styling with long silhouettes that made references to art and paintings. And all these elements together resulted in pictures beyond what I initially imagined. What a day, what a joy to get together to imagine and work; what a privilege and power it is to create.

And these images make me think of antidotes to our current predicaments: we counter uncertainty with creation, unity and grit; we learn from our pasts and build our futures through the study of art; we carve our ways and pierce through darkness with light.

With roots in Mexico and a background in communications, his images combine technical precision with an editorial sensibility. His debut solo exhibition Light Bodies (Toronto, 2025) explored experimental long-exposure techniques, reflecting his interest in storytelling through both craft and emotion. Gerry's work bridges commercial clarity with artistic exploration, creating visuals that resonate across fashion, beauty, and lifestyle industries.

Este look nace en la intersección entre disciplina y delicadeza, entre la silueta dominatrix y la poesía que habita en los detalles. La máscara, el metal, el negro absoluto: todo dialoga con un elemento que silenciosamente dirige la narrativa, mis rosas tatuadas. Las llevo por mi madre, la primera mujer que me mostró lo que es la fuerza, que la belleza puede ser feroz, que una rosa puede ser un arma y un refugio.
En esta editorial, ese legado se convierte en moda: la flor como armadura, la sombra como alta costura, el cuerpo como manifiesto.

Este es un retrato de poder heredado, reinterpretado y elevado. Un símbolo de feminidad indomable, envuelto en misterio y precisión estética.

Qué historia les cuenta esta versión de mí? Qué les revela esta rosa transformada en couture?
