Migrar no es solo cambiar de país: es despedirse de la familia, del idioma, de un estatus, de los proyectos de vida y de la versión de nosotros que dejamos atrás.

Este encuentro nos dio un espacio seguro para nombrar lo que muchas veces se calla. Escribimos lo que cargamos, soltamos lo que pesa y guardamos lo que nos sostiene en nuestra "maleta emocional".

💛 Gracias a Daniela Restrepo de @psicologia_inmigrantes , por guiarnos con tanta sensibilidad y cuidado. Y gracias a cada participante por su confianza, su honestidad y por compartir su historia.

Hablar del duelo migratorio normaliza lo que sentimos, reduce el aislamiento y fortalece los lazos en la comunidad. Tu valor no desaparece al migrar, y en comunidad todas las personas tenemos un lugar.

Yaima Frosseard has been nominated for a commitment to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion at work, and is a nominee in the Organizational Diversity and Inclusion Leadership category.

Yaima Frosseard is a co-founder of Mujeres que Inspiran Canadá, where she has helped create culturally responsive spaces for newcomer and immigrant Latina women.

Her nomination describes an initiative that has reached more than 1,500 women and provided workshops, mentorship, peer connection and opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Yaima’s work responds to challenges including isolation, language barriers and limited access to culturally relevant support. Her leadership emphasizes collective empowerment, helping women move toward stronger social networks, increased confidence, economic participation and community leadership.

EVENT RECAP: Conexiones Latinas 🇨🇦✨

¿Qué pasa cuando la comunidad latina en Canadá se reúne?
Pasan conexiones reales, historias que inspiran y momentos que nos recuerdan que juntos somos más fuertes.

Nuestra co-founder Yaima Frosseard vivió un encuentro inolvidable en el evento de @conexiones_latinas_ , invitada por Daniela Restrepo, @psicologia_inmigrantes, y en compañía de @casta_latina

Entre miembros destacados e inspiradores de la comunidad latina, conversaciones que suman y una energía increíble, el evento fue totalmente enriquecedor.

Como bien dice Yaima: “Alegra muchísimo tener estos espacios como latinos en Canadá.”

Y sí, no fue solo un evento.
Fue un recordatorio de que la comunidad latina en Canadá está más viva que nunca. 🇨🇦🌎

Who said healthy food can’t be fun, delicious, and full of flavour?

Our final session of the **Family Wellness Program** at Welcome Inn Community Centre was the perfect way to close this incredible first chapter — discovering new flavours, sharing healthy food, laughing together, and reminding ourselves that wellness is even better when we experience it as a community.❤️

The first stage has been about connection, family, learning, prevention, and creating healthier lives together. Thank you to @vicaria.ca for your collaboration.

🌿 We’re taking a little break for now and We’ll be back with more conversations, more learning, more delicious moments, and more opportunities to grow together.

Inspired and Incarnate. ✨

To Welcome October, " Heritage Latin American Month" , our community came together in two powerful ways: a photography workshop led by @claudisakura taught us to see our stories through a new lens, and a community picnic hosted by our Peer-to-Peer Support program.

Between the laughter, shared food, and real conversations, something beautiful happened: newcomers found their footing, and every face in the frame reminded us why connection matters. Because belonging isn't just a feeling, it's something we build together, one gathering at a time. 💛

Inspiradas y Encarnadas. ✨

Para dar la bienvenida a octubre, el "Mes de la Herencia Latinoamericana", nuestra comunidad se unió de dos maneras significativas: un taller de fotografía dirigido por @claudisakura, que nos enseñó a ver nuestras historias desde una nueva perspectiva, y un picnic comunitario organizado por nuestro programa de Apoyo entre Pares.

Entre las risas, la comida compartida y las conversaciones sinceras, sucedió algo hermoso: las recién llegadas se sintieron integradas y cada rostro en la foto nos recordó por qué la conexión es importante. Porque pertenecer no es solo un sentimiento, es algo que construimos juntas, encuentro tras encuentro. 💛

Gracias a @claudisakura, @@spoiled.luxe, @mujeresqueinspirancan y a todas las mujeres que asistieron, compartieron sus historias y fortalecieron nuestra comunidad.

Welcome Inn Community Centre en colaboración con Hamilton Refugee Law Office ofrecioʻ un taller sobre el proceso de refugio en Canadá y los recientes cambios migratorios, ademas de omo acceder a asesoria certificada gratis durante el proceso.

Gracias a cada persona que participó y se llevó herramientas para el camino. 🙌

Today, we had the pleasure of participating in Welcome Week event created by HIPC @hipchamilton , and it was such a beautiful opportunity to connect with so many newcomers in Hamilton.

At our booth, we were able to welcome people, share the programs and services offered by Welcome Inn Community Center, and let newcomers know that they are not alone as they build their new lives here.

If you or your peers have faced a Refugee Claimants process or have questions about recent changes to immigration processes in Canada? Join us for this free session where you can get your questions answered with professional legal support.

The session will cover topics such as
✅ General information about Canada's refugee system
✅ Who is an authorized representative to provide legal advice and services for immigration and refugee matters
✅ How to verify if your lawyer is an authorized representative
✅ Immigration and refugee services offered by Legal Aid Ontario and Hamilton Refugee Law Office

A lawyer from the Hamilton Refugee Law Office will be available at the end of the session to answer questions.
