The SUNDIAL Center for the Advancement of HUMAN / NATURE is a place to get healthy. Here at the SUNDIAL center, CJ can explore his personal and familial history with addiction, and to get sober the absolute worst way: live for a studio audience.

Birds are like people: really intimidating unless you have a camera crew who makes you feel special. Anyway I don’t speak bird language but I asked some bird people @thebirdingbeardsman @birdsafephilly to explore how birds make us more human.

Thank you @cannonballfest for awarding SUNDIAL the Delicious Award for shows that “delight or seduce audiences, offer a refined or complex experience, or just plain taste like umami je ne sais quoi.”

HUMAN / NATURE : SUNDIAL closed last month. HUMAN / NATURE is a series where we ask a question and spend the summer exploring the answers thru interview, music, and live broadcast techniques.
This year the team trusted me to explore something deeply personal to myself and many others: Can comedy save my family from addiction? We presented our findings in three shows, tailored for young audiences, and devised with high school students. SUNDIAL is earnest and raw, and your response during Philly Fringe enables us to further refine and appreciate what we have.

Thank you to the team:
Thank you @akilidav for your talent, trust, and taste in producing this project. @tetsudigital and @alishabphotography for capturing the show, @_mythbuilding_ for set and production support, KCAPA students Elias and Steve for bringing their skills and insight into the production. Thanks Colby Calhoun for being my interview guest for the show, saving me from certain death.
Thank you @wrightingclass for writing with me weekly, @cosmofault for killing me at open mic (Wednesdays at @theelbarphilly hosted by @whoismikevoss) and helping with the ‘Theme from SUNDIAL.’

Thank you @cannonballfest for accepting me into the Performances for Young Audiences Cohort, and co-presenting a piece that is made for and with young people who care about this topic. Gabriele for production support, and for coordinating the press photoshoot with Maya Jackson. Shout out to Z and Caitlyn for stage managing and teching the shows, and ofcourse the wonderful folks at @iceboxprojectspace

Thank you @fringearts for accepting me for Preview Night and Fringe fair, both amazing opportunities for us. Shoutout Colby Calhoun, @vnsskmp @JeffreyCousar @wisdom.of.the.crowd

This is a photo of me trying to look healed but the reality is I have one more day of visitation in the SUNDIAL Center for the Advancement of HUMAN / NATURE. This Friday 9/25 at 530 is the last time I’ll be sharing some of my treatments (and ailments) with you and definitely not blaming my mom for my problems
