Keep your mind locked in, your head up and your eyes forward. Keep applying the pressure that lives you - you got this! 🙌🏽💕💪🏽

The only hoes I’ve met in my life look more like Shane Gillis than me in my shorts.

They look average and get through life by finding sources of external validation. It becomes their identity and how they make a living. That’s not skill, that’s sluttin’ yourself out.

I actually have self respect. That’s why you see me…in the gym…with my little shorts. My ass matches my aspirations and the shorts remind how good both look and feel on me.

Totally get it if you’d like your own pair, Shane😉. Maybe then you’d actually have a pair of something 🤣.

I didn’t show up for ease and comfort.
Honestly, I hope the person who left this got everything they needed out of their lift.
Movement happened here- that’s what I see. 👀

You vs. You…

The version of you that wants to give up vs.
The version of you that knows you deserve to see this through.

The version of you that seeks comfort vs.
The version of you that knows life has more beauty to offer you.

The version of you waiting for everything to go to shit vs. The version of you who’s not worried because you are the shit.

Life presents us with opportunities to decide which version of ourselves we’re going to challenge and which one we’re going to fight for.

As long as these opportunities keep coming- you’ll be fine. You’ll make yourself prouder each time.

Stay resilient. 🫶🏽

Explanation 👇🏽

➡️Compound Lifts
Movements that involve multiple muscles & joints are ideal tools for increasing mechanical tension. Mechanical tension creates hypertrophy. The more mechanical tension we experience the more growth & strength we can achieve.

➡️Training the hips in the frontal & rotational planes of motion

Our bodies come equipped with hip stabilizers & rotators which strengthen when we move in the frontal & rotational planes.

When these muscles are not strengthened, movement compensations happen followed by pain in places like the low back, knees, groin or outer hips.

When we intentionally develop them, we improve our biomechanics and our stability. Improved movement allows us access to greater ranges of motion. Increased ROM means more hypertrophy. Improved stability opens us up to more progressive overload. Optimal ROM & good stability are foundational for athletic performance.

➡️OCK Movements

Open chain movements for the glutes involve the foot (on the same side as the working glute ) moving freely through space- like kickbacks or reserve hyper extensions.

Unlike compound movements, these are great for developing isolated muscle connection.

Some of us are gifted with an effortless ability to fire our glutes. Most of us have to work for it and that’s where this kind of isolation work can help.

The glutes are responsible for extending the hip and in a compound movement like an RDL there are other muscles and joints that can compensate for the glutes- hamstrings are a common one. When we extend the hip and work the glutes in a movement like a donkey kick certain compensations can’t happen and others (like movement in the low back) are easier to spot.

Enhancing glute connection and eliminating compensations helps us get the most out of all of our glute training- which means more gains and better performance.

Hope this gives some guidance if you create your own programming. Available for coaching if you’d rather someone worry about it for you.

Every version of you is worth investing in. Like retirement, longevity requires some prior investment.

Investing involves planning ahead, strategy, risk assessment, discipline, and patience.

Just as there are different tools to help you save for retirement, there are different tools to help you build longevity. Some of my favorites include eating foods that fuel my body and functional training.

What about you? Are you planning for longevity? What are your favorite strategies? How often do you assess how your daily choices now will compound in 30 years? How is your discipline delivering you to the future you want?

I’m just a curious coach who spent 15 years in banking- can you tell? 😆💰

Training to “look good” is fine. Just check your expectations for the future because long term satisfaction doesn’t come from chasing something temporary and subjective.

Longevity is a goal, it’s not a given. Build the body for long term success and I bet you’ll like what you see and feel 10, 20, 50 years from now.

The body is designed to be more than a trophy. It’s meant to be our most valuable tool.

So how long do you want to look good for?

#strengthtraining #longevity #strongnotskinny #personaltrainers #gymreels by @consistentandconfident

Why these matter 👇🏽

Question 1:
How is your programming centered around you as an individual not just a goal?

There’s a high likelihood that your body and the details of your life are more unique and intricate than your goal. What you need as an individual deserves higher priority because you will outlast your goal. Your goal is something that can change, but your body will always be with you as long as you walk this earth.

This question is not only something that I’m asking you to think about, I also challenge you to ask your personal trainer (if you work with one). A good personal trainer will be able to give you a detailed explanation of how your training is centered around you. Make sure you get what you pay for.

Question 2:
With longevity in mind, are fitness trends a reliable foundation for your programming?

Your body doesn’t care what the latest trends in fitness are. Trends are rarely centered around longevity. They’re typically centered around performance. Trends add external pressure and personalized needs get overlooked in the pursuit of a particular outcome. A lot of injuries and exercise burnout stem from trends.

Personal trainers who care about your longevity are process driven. Yes, we want to help you achieve your desired outcome. We do that by personalizing a path for you to get there without unnecessary risks to your wellbeing (again, those of us who are concerned with your longevity). We are centered around people (and everything that makes their experience unique) not just performance.

I encourage you to understand what your body needs for the long haul and to be clear about what you want for it. Clarity creates a reliable path. If you’d like some help, that’s what we #personaltrainers are here for.

You are built to withstand the test of time. You already have and that’s part of your beauty. Keep building your resilience, brick by 🧱.

When you’re feeling tested and uncertain, remember what you’re:

B-Breaking free from- like standards, connections or environments that don’t suite your values.

R-Reclaiming for yourself - like joy, confidence, freedom.

I- investing in for the long-term- maybe health, maybe wealth, maybe connection, maybe all of the above

C- Capable of conquering- like everything that’s tried to prevent you from being the strong, determined, confident and kind person you are today.

K- Keeping consistent in to work for you win- like the small choices that can make a large impact on your success.

Keep building, Baddie! I already like what I see and I know your best is yet to come. 😍😘

What you believe about yourself is one of the most important things about you. This is the belief I’m holding onto because Inadequacy is a liar, and I don’t have time to listen to its narrative while I’m trying to discover my potential.

Sharing this core belief, this mantra of self-love and acceptance for anyone else who needs some reassurance from time to time. 🥹❤️

Remember that you are enough. You have the power and potential. Just be present and patient with yourself- you deserve that and so much more in this life, Friend.

Keep your head up. Eyes forward. Control the narrative and create the change you want to see. I believe in you. 🫶🏽

#selflove❤️ #selfacceptance #affirmations #resilience #mindsetofgreatness by @consistentandconfident

Repeat this to yourself the next time you hear that inner voice pressing and stressing you- the next time inadequacy tries to control the narrative.

Remind yourself of your purpose, your passion, and your willingness to persist.

Accept that you are enough and that there is a real power when you choose to be present.

Be aware of what Insecurity and Anxiety sound like because they’re everywhere, they’re toxic, and their reasoning is flawed.

You’re the boss, Boo. Respond to life on your terms and remember that you don’t have anything to prove to anyone. 💪🏽🫶🏽

Last week this song reminded me that a large portion of my resilience is built on my ability to stay true to who I am in all situations. My resilience developed from aligning my actions with my values- living authentically.

I’ve never needed anyone to tell me who to be, how to act, or what to want. Maybe you can relate.

The voice I trust the most is my own because I’m most aware of my values and goals. I know I can trust myself, so I choose loyalty. I will be true to the voice I can trust. Why wouldn’t I?

This week I encourage you to express your authentic self, to be aware of your values, to own your goals and to move through your week in ways that make you feel happy and proud.

That’s what we deserve to feel about ourselves- happy and proud. 🫶🏽
