Stay warm, mane! by @coolurbanhippie

Yo! Discomfort can be, well, uncomfortable. But, it’s temporary. While it’s present, it can help us to discover certain parts of ourselves we not have been able to see otherwise.

It’s an invitation to do a “diagnostic check” on our mental and emotional health. If you’re feeling the discomfort, there may be something there for you to pay attention to and learn.

Sit with it.
Feel it.
Learn from it.
And, then, keep going! by @coolurbanhippie

Yo! Things come into our lives for a season, whether it’s for a few days or a few years. But, when that season ends, let it end. It’s not always a bad thing, and it doesn’t mean it’s a permanent ending. It just means that the current chapter has run its course as it is.

While it may not feel great in the moment, it’s making space for what’s next for us. What’s better suited for us now. And there’s no need holding on to what’s no longer ours to keep.

So, truly, let things end and keep going! by @coolurbanhippie

Yo! So, if there is something on your schedule that must be done today, do that! But, after that...

Take a nap.
Go lay down.
Chill out.
Relax.
Etc.

Make sure rest is on your schedule today. by @coolurbanhippie

“But, did I even complain?”

This summer was intense. Challenging even. But very rewarding and kind. Here’s a collection of moments from it.

And as @verygrae says, “We don’t dump. We document.” 😌 by @coolurbanhippie

Yo!! Letting go is hard. Especially when it’s things like companionship, friendship, outdated identities, or that item that still reminds you them.

Yeah. “Letting go” can seem almost impossible.

But, letting go is a reminder to yourself that there will be more moments, more experiences, more opportunities, and more people on your journey who will enrich your life as well...when you open yourself up to them.

We will always have the memories. And by no means is this about trying to replace anything or anyone. This is about creating place in our lives to receive. It’s difficult to receive more when there’s no room for it.
We have to prepare for what’s to come.

We must make room.
We must let go.
You got this! by @coolurbanhippie

Yo! Doing something new or different can be intimidating. It challenges what we believe about ourselves or who think we are. But, trying something new and different can show us who we can be.
And we can be whatever we put our mind to.

So, you may be in a season where you feel stuck and need to do something different. But, sometimes
“something different” feels so overwhelming. And you’re waiting on something or someone to help you. That’s normal. We’ve all felt that way.

Be gentle with yourself.
Just take it a step at a time.
Don’t be afraid to be a newbie again.

You’re going to learn a lot about yourself. And you’re gonna see that the only thing that you’ve really been wanting on...was you.

You got this! by @coolurbanhippie

Yo! This next season? It’s about you.
But, not in a selfish way. In a self-full way.

It’s about checking in with yourself more often. Taking more time to be with yourself. Setting boundaries without the guilt. Letting go of the things that only take from you. Being curious about what lights you up. Choosing joy on purpose. And growing. Because you deserve to grow, too.

This season is about honoring your needs, your peace, and your power. Because when you care for you, everything else flows from a fuller place.

So, be self-full this season.
And watch what happens. by @coolurbanhippie

Y’all!! So many things are in transition right now. Nothing is what it once was. And it’s not quite where it’s going to be either. Everything feels like it’s floating.

And in the middle of all this transition, we’re out here expecting some sense of stability in situations that are anything but stable. Then, we feel bad for not having it all together yet.

But here’s the thing: that’s not our job right now.

We don’t have to be fixed in a space that’s constantly moving. We get to give ourselves grace. We get to let go of the pressure to be “stable” in a season that’s all about change.

So, in this season, let’s breathe. Let’s continue to show up. Let’s adapt. Let’s flow. That’s how you stay present with what is and prepare for what’s next. by @coolurbanhippie

Yo! Even though the world says otherwise, your value does not go anywhere when you stop working. It’s still there. You are still just as valuable at rest.

You can stop. You can rest.

Hope you are able to experience that today! by @coolurbanhippie

Yo! And just like that, ten years became one beautiful day.

From setting up the day before, to watching the room fill with people, laughter, stories, pride and so much joy…this is Spectacular Vernacular.

I’ve reshared a lot of moments people have shared from the exhibition, but this one is special to me. A chance to see the whole thing come together. The work. The people. The energy. The celebration.

Spectacular Vernacular started ten years ago with me simply paying attention to the way Memphis talks and thinking, this is beautiful.

What happened Saturday was bigger than looking back at something I created. It was watching a city see itself in the work and celebrate what it saw.

That’s the part I’ll carry with me.

To everybody who came, bought something, wrote on the wall, took a picture, brought a friend, laughed at a phrase, shared a story, worked behind the scenes, or simply stood in that room and added your energy to it…THANK YOU!

We did something spectacular. 🥂
