5 things I’ve learnt in my first year of building an online business ✨

When I started this journey, I thought I was simply learning how to build a business.

What I didn’t realise was just how much I’d learn about myself along the way.

This past year has challenged me, pushed me outside my comfort zone and taught me lessons that go far beyond business.

And honestly, I think that’s been one of my favourite parts.

I’ve learnt that growth isn’t always comfortable, that being yourself is enough, and that you’re capable of so much more than you give yourself credit for.

I’m nowhere near where I want to be yet, but I’m so proud of the progress I’ve made.

Which of these five lessons resonates with you the most? by @coraleighforan

I help women build an additional income online through health & wellbeing products and a proven business model. 🤍

But my why goes much deeper than that.

For me, it was never just about earning more.

It was about creating more freedom.

I’ve always believed life is meant to be lived, not squeezed into weekends and annual leave.

That’s why I’m passionate about helping other women realise there are different ways to create the life they want.

The best part…

For years, I knew exactly what kind of life I wanted to create… I just had absolutely no idea HOW I was going to make it happen. 😂

I spent 10 years working for a company I genuinely loved, progressed in my career, took on more responsibility and did all the things I thought I was supposed to do.

But I slowly realised that climbing the career ladder wasn’t necessarily going to give me the life I wanted.

So I took a chance on self-employment.

And whilst that gave me more flexibility, I somehow ended up working even MORE hours! 😂

I knew there had to be another way.

And then, just over a year ago, I came across an opportunity that genuinely felt aligned with who I was, what I believed in and the future I wanted.

Was I scared? Absolutely.

Did I have people questioning my decision? Yep.

Did I know exactly what I was doing? Not a bloody clue. 🤣

But I kept asking myself one question…

What if I don’t even try?

A year later, I’m still learning, still growing and still building towards that dream life.

But I’ve gained confidence, skills, friendships and experiences I never expected.

And most importantly, I’ve stopped waiting for someone else to show me how to live the life I want.

I’m taking responsibility for creating it myself.

I’m so bloody glad I didn’t let fear make that decision for me. 🤍

If you’ve watched both parts of my story, thank you for taking the time to get to know me a little better. 🥹🫶🏼 by @coraleighforan

VULNERABLE POST ALERT 🥹🤍

I’ve wanted to share a little more of my story for a while now, so you can get to know the girl behind this page a bit better.

But doing that means opening up about things I don’t usually talk about, and if I’m being honest, that feels pretty uncomfortable! 😂

This post is just me being me. No pretending I’ve got it all figured out, just being raw, honest and authentic.

For quite a big part of my twenties, I’ve felt like I was falling behind in life.

Watching people around me reach milestones like buying houses, getting married, having babies and building their careers, while I was still trying to figure out what my own path looked like.

And the funny thing is, I’ve always been somebody who absolutely LOVES life. I’m so grateful for the people around me, the experiences I’ve had and the memories I’ve made.

But that doesn’t mean I haven’t had moments where I’ve questioned everything.

I’ve had experiences that knocked my confidence, affected me financially and left me feeling like I was starting over when I thought I’d be much further ahead.

And I think one of the biggest things I’ve learnt is that you can be grateful for the life you have and still feel a little lost sometimes.

I’m learning that my journey doesn’t have to look like anybody else’s.

And although it hasn’t always gone to plan, I’m starting to appreciate that it’s all part of my story. by @coraleighforan

Do you ever feel like you’re just going through the motions of life rather than actually LIVING it?

Like you’re constantly busy, but somehow never seem to have enough time for the things you actually want to do?

You’ve still not started that yoga class you’ve been talking about for months. 🧘🏼‍♀️

Bali is still sitting on your bucket list. ✈️

It’s been three weeks since you last visited your grandma, even though you keep saying you’ll pop round. ❤️

That book you were so excited to read is still sitting untouched on your bedside table. 📖

And somehow, another month has flown by.

It’s not that you don’t WANT to do these things. It’s that life keeps getting in the way of actually living.

You’re working, keeping up with responsibilities, doing all the things you’re supposed to do…

But when do you actually get time for the things YOU want to do?

And the thing is, you’re not necessarily unhappy with your life. You have so much to be grateful for.

But sometimes you feel stuck in a life that society designed for everyone, that just doesn’t quite fit who YOU are.

And something I’ve come to realise is that you don’t have to hate your current life to want to change it.

You don’t have to wait until you’re burnt out or miserable to start questioning whether your routine is actually working for you.

You deserve to enjoy an ordinary Tuesday.

You deserve to wake up on a Monday without already wishing it was Friday.

And you deserve to have time for the little things that make life worth living, not just squeeze them in whenever you get the chance.

Because you only get one life. Don’t spend it constantly waiting for the part where you finally get to live it. 🤍

Does anyone else ever feel like life is moving faster than they can keep up with? 🫶🏼 by @coraleighforan

If you’d told me a couple of years ago that I’d be regularly talking to a camera and putting it on the internet for anyone to see, I’d have probably laughed 😂

The thought of people watching & judging me, genuinely terrified me.

And do you know what? Sometimes I still get nervous!

But I reached a point where I realised something…

I wanted the life I was dreaming about more than I feared what other people thought of me.

And that changed everything.

Because the reality is, if I want to create a life I’ve never had before, I’m going to have to be willing to do things I’ve never done before.

I’m not magically confident. I’m just learning to push through the uncomfortable feelings instead of letting them make my decisions for me.

And every time I do, I prove to myself that I’m capable of a little bit more.

Confidence doesn’t always come before you do something. Sometimes it comes BECAUSE you did it.

So if there’s something you’ve been wanting to do but you’re terrified of what people might think…

Please don’t let somebody else’s opinion have more power over your future than your own dreams do. 🤍 by @coraleighforan

If I had all the time in the world, I would have 100000 hobbies 😂

Padel, yoga, Spanish lessons, line dancing, painting… the list is genuinely endless. 🤣

I’ve recently taken up pole fitness and I’m absolutely LOVING learning something new!

I truly believe that keeping our brains active, learning new skills and challenging ourselves helps keep us young and happy. 🥹

Disclaimer - I am SUCH a beginner at this 😂 but like anything in life, you’ve just got to start, stay consistent and give yourself the chance to improve.

I nearly talked myself out of going to my first session but I went anyway, and honestly, I came out on cloud nine!

Just goes to show how often we limit ourselves before we’ve even given something a go.

Life’s too short not to try all the things that interest you. Even if you’re absolutely rubbish at them to begin with. 😂🤍

P.s being upside down is fun by @coraleighforan

I spent 10 years working for the same company, progressing across three different roles.

Don’t get me wrong, I gained so much experience, learnt new skills and met some incredible people along the way.

But no matter how much I progressed, I never really felt like I was getting any closer to the life I’d always dreamed of.

The older I got, the more I started questioning the traditional system.

Because the reality is, it wasn’t designed to give me the kind of freedom I wanted.

More responsibility, more hours, maybe a little more money… but still having to organise my entire life around work and that just didn’t sit right with me.

I wasn’t lacking ambition. I was willing to work hard. I just started realising that climbing the career ladder wasn’t going to get me where I wanted to be.

I needed an alternative.

Something I could build around my life, rather than constantly fitting my life around work.

Just over a year ago, I finally found an online business opportunity that aligned with what I’d been searching for.

I’m still building towards my dream life, but I finally feel like I’m heading in the right direction.

Turns out I never wanted to stop climbing. I just realised I was on the wrong ladder. 😂🤍 by @coraleighforan

Sometimes I think we’re so held back because we’re caught up in what is expected from us and what people think of us.

Life is made for laughter! Let the seriousness go, be a little silly and enjoy every moment 🫶🏼 by @coraleighforan

When I was younger, I knew I wanted to be ‘successful’. I always had it in my head that I would be!

Back then, however, the vision looked something like this:

Sixth form > Uni > Decent job > Work my way up.

Isn’t that the norm? It’s what people do, right? 😂

Shortly into my first real job, I started to question this.

I actually loved my job! I had it fairly easy, a good manager, amazing colleagues… but what was missing was the ability for it to give me the lifestyle I wanted.

I soon realised that 25 days of annual leave was pathetic 😂 and I hated feeling stuck in a system and routine I hadn’t designed.

I knew I was made for something different, and the more time went on, the more I questioned the way we were expected to live.

I’m genuinely so grateful for all the different roles I’ve had and everything they’ve taught me.

But I’m even more grateful that I’ve now found the courage to decide what success looks like for ME.

Yes, I’m building something that I’m so excited about, but I’m also learning to be happy in the NOW whilst I do that.

Because I believe in balance.

I believe in working hard, having goals and creating a beautiful future.

But I also believe in slow mornings, spontaneous adventures, prioritising my wellbeing and having time for the people I love.

And I’m not prepared to accept this societal idea that we only get to enjoy that balance when we’re 65+!!! 😂🤍 by @coraleighforan
