β€œIF I WAS A COWBOY I’D BE THE QUEEN” (2024) 8”x10” linoleum-carved block print πŸ³οΈβ€βš§οΈβœ¨πŸ€ πŸ’–πŸ”πŸŽπŸ©΅πŸŒΈπŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ today makes 3 years for me being on hormone replacement therapy (HRT)!! what a blessed journey it’s been. 🩷 i often tell my friends (and myself) that β€œbeing transgender is the 11th most interesting thing about me.” lol. but this season i have been feeling very reflective, and my transition has truly been something special in my life. these past three years have been so beautiful and fruitful, teaching me patience, grace, balance. lots and lots of lessons. watching my body use its own genetics to feminize itself naturally without surgery (i’ll never stop thinking thats so cool)!!! feeding it. caring for it. stewarding it. people often ask me why and how i can hold my relationship with God so closely if i’m also transgender, living in a culture-war-machine that weaponizes christian hate for trans people? to which i ask: what if God answered your very first prayer? do you remember your first prayer? the first thing you asked God. i do. how have i any other choice but to sing His praises and live out my days in the abundant grace i ~personally~ have touched? or to trust the power of transformation (repentance)? when i carved this piece, β€œIF I WAS A COWBOY I’D BE THE QUEEN”, inspired by the song β€œif i was a cowboy” by miranda lambert, i was thinking about what a frontier transition can feel like. wide, star-filled western skies 🀠🀠🀠 for me, the cowboy/outlaw will always be the archetype and subject that most accurately captures gender nonconformity! plus, i just freaking love country music. thanks for reading and looking at my art. πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’— yall be good now luv u ~corbi <3 #transartist #blockprints #countrymusic #hrt #faithfullylgbt by @corbintreadwell
