📣 If you are experiencing difficulty around Executive Functioning, it is NOT your fault! I repeat, “IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT!”📣

Executive Functioning challenges can happen for a variety of reasons. Many of the reasons are related to brain development, neurological differences, or environmental factors. To name a few:
🧠 ADHD, Autism, Learning differences, Dyslexia, TBI, Stress, Sleep deprivation, Genetics, Anxiety, Depression, Developmental Delay, Poor nutrition, Cancer Related Cognitive Impairment, and more…

Blame can create unnecessary guilt and frustration. Let’s focus on understanding why you (or your child) may struggle with executive functioning and work on strategies that can help. It is possible to develop these skills over time when you have the right support, tools, and professional guidance!

🧠This is a post for my new followers who might not know WHAT Executive Functioning (EF) is and WHY it’s so important!

EF is a cluster of cognitive skills rooted in prefrontal structures of the frontal lobe. It includes our ability to anticipate consequences, generate novel ideas and solutions, initiate appropriate actions, and monitor ongoing success or failure. These are higher-level cognitive process that help with goal-directed behavior and self regulation.

The key pillars of EF include: 1️⃣Inhibition (self-control), 2️⃣Working Memory (capacity to hold and manipulate information over short periods of time), and 3️⃣Cognitive Flexibility (ability to adapt to changing circumstances, switch between tasks or think about multiple concepts simultaneously). These 3 pillars form the foundation of how we manage tasks, make decisions, control behavior, and adapt to new situations.

EF is essential for success in both adults and children in their personal, educational, and professional contexts. Difficulties here might result in challenges with following directions, remembering sequences, emotional control, focusing and sustaining attention, planning and prioritizing, sensing the passage of time/using time efficiently.

You will see this page focused on helping all ages and stages in the area of EF.

Let’s get to the core of it 🍎

Core Mind has been created for those who are experiencing differences with their #cognition and are looking to improve their quality of life.

Core Body will be coming soon! This is being created after my love for #pilates grew post #breastcancer treatment. When your body feels good, your mind feels good.

I am here to encourage individuals to explore the mind-body connection and understand how having a balance is an integral part one’s well being.

More education to come. For now, it’s a quick introduction and a thank you for being here 💞
