2 poems from years ago mashed together. This year I have written very little new material. I've focused on cleaning out my closet so to speak. For several years I failed to make lasting copies of poems. I wanted to change that. Part of me worried, decades from now, I wouldn't have an audio of the poetry I wrote. I don't think this is the most polished, well produced thing I could do w/that poetry but I feel more complete about it. Most of these 2020 poem videos, if not all of them, gave me pause & made me second-guess uploading them. I think they're imperfect. Some lines I don't exactly agree w/or feel anymore. Some lines are just ok & could be expressed more poetically or creatively. I've always been able to memorize a poem. It means spending a lot of time w/the poem. But it's another level to edit a poem's video. To hear your words & voice repeatedly over & over again. For me, it's very humbling. Countless times I wanted to stop &/or edit & rewrite the poem so it satisfied me more. I used to recite my poems in my head while I drove or did this or that. I think I'm over that. Working w/these poems as much as I did gave me closure. I look forward to the next creative projects I work on & dive into. It's exciting. Even a bit freeing. I know I'm crazy. I'm trying to make my screams sound catchy. I didn't make any of this music or produce any of the instrumental. I wrote the lyrics. I performed them. That's me in the video. I am not making any money off this.  Check out these musicians and producers -  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGCNVz4USLM Music provided by Rujay. Instrumental: "Just Might" by Que. A poem from several years ago. Poetry and really any creative art project/venture are quite therapeutic to me. This was yet another poem that I tossed and turned about recording and sharing. There's some lines that just don't sit with me as well as they may have used to. Part of me wanted to rewrite and restructure the whole thing but I also just wanted to get it out there. Sometimes rear view mirrors just slow you down. For years I didn't write this poem. This was something that I memorized as I created it. I don't think I performed it for anyone for most of its existence. It was just something that lived in my head. Then one foggy Christmas Eve I performed it an open mic and it went well so I had more confidence in it. That confidence still wavers. There's some lines that I think are amateur hour in this poem and I fought back the urge to rewrite. Honestly I want to spend that kind of time and catharsis on new projects and writings. This year has been about cleaning out the closet and putting furniture on the sidewalk for people to pick up. I did not make any of this music or produce any of the instrumental. I wrote the lyrics. I performed them. That's me in the video. I am not making any money off this.  Check out these musicians and producers - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LULx_xkOY-w Guitar Beat 2020 by Lucas Folk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qn1TdJ5JTL4 My Time by Jody #poetry_addicts #poetsonig #poetsclub #poet #poetry #igpoet #igpoetrysociety #poetrycommunity #poetsandwriters #poetsofinstagram by @coreytaftpoetry
Part 1 of 3 This is a poem I wrote in college years and years ago. I hardly ever perform it anymore & I was rather reluctant to record & edit it for a number of reasons. I did not make any of this music or produce any of the instrumental. I wrote the lyrics. I performed them. That's my voice in the video. I am not making any money off this.  Check out these musicians and producers - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eW58HYr2Il8&t=9s www.instagram.com/dungeonmusic29 Midnight Cruise Produced by IAmDungeonMusic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9QxXKEzJas Princess Kaguya Produced by Chris Lacy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XzjljGJSAbg Sunnyside  Produced by Blissful Spot #poetry #poet #poem #instapoetry #igpoet #igpoetryclub #poetsonig #poetryofinstagram #poetry_addicts #poetrycommunity #poetscorner #igpoetry by @coreytaftpoetry
Part 2 of 3 The second part of a 3 part poem series I wrote years and years and years ago in college. I like this poem. I have hardly ever ever performed this b/c it doesn't make a lot of sense out of context. Then again, I think a lot of my work doesn't make sense in and out of context. But look at me still at it. I did not make any of this music or produce any of the instrumental. I wrote the lyrics. I performed them. That's my voice in the video. Part 3 of 3 From years and years and years ago. Like a lot of the poems I've uploaded this year, I went back and forth on if I even should. This and the first 2 parts were something I wrote for a college class. I wanted this particular poem to sound like a poem from a previous generation. Like something a kid might read out of a textbook. I did not make any of this music or produce any of the instrumental. I wrote the lyrics. I performed them. That's my voice in the video. I am not making any money off this.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nbT9w8Tkq4&list=LL&index=155 Places Produced by TomKs #poetry #poet #poem #instapoetry #igpoet #igpoetryclub #poetsonig #poetryofinstagram #poetry_addicts #poetrycommunity #poetscorner #igpoetry by @coreytaftpoetry

Happy Halloween! I've been cleaning out my poetry closet this year so to speak. Here is an old number from back in the day. I've found it cathartic to record & edits these poems. I know they're dumb & not terrible professional but it kinda feels like it's much easier to move on forward from them now. #halloween #AllHallowsEve #HappyHalloween #HalloweenPoetry #poetry #instagrampoetry #instagrampoets #dplwrites #poet #poetrycommunity #instapoetry #igpoetryclub #igpoetry #poetsonig #poetsandwriters #Halloween2020 #halloweeneveryday #Hollywood #igpoetscommunity #poetscorner #writingcommunity #halloweenrap #HalloweenPoem #poetrylovers #poetryisnotdead #poemsofinstagram I did not make any of this music or or produce any of the instrumental. A poem I wrote 15 years ago. This is a recording from 2 years ago in the studio of the legendary, Alonzo Williams, of the world famous World Class Wreckin' Cru. Special thanks to Lonzo, Kirk "White Chedda" Sells, and the non profit, Lyrical Revolution for the awesome opportunity to record in such a historical studio. the lovely and soulful Lindsay Johnson recorded this beautiful number a little less than 2 years ago I wrote the lyrics about 15 years ago when I was imagining a story set in the future where the musicians, artists, and entertainers were mostly out of work and nomadic. This is the only song/idea I kept. For years, it was just something I would sing to myself from time to time, then in late 2018 I posted the lyrics and Lindsay surprised me with this recording. I hope you enjoy! also check more videos on youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPMEovnnuejerg7en_f4JgA by @coreytaftpoetry
