POSTS STORIES REELS

It’s with a heavy heart that we share the passing of our sweet Jake. He left us today at 16:28, surrounded by his humans who loved him more than anything.

What started as a normal day ended at the emergency vet. Jake suddenly got sick, and after tests we learned he likely had a form of cancer near his heart that caused bleeding. The prognosis was grim, and while we tried to give him every chance, his body just couldn’t recover. We weren’t going to let him suffer. We spent some precious time with him, and Mahm sang “You Are My Sunshine” as he peacefully slipped away.

Jake was the most gentle, fun, sassy, loving, and ball-obsessed dog you could ever meet. He got to see both oceans, travel internationally, and join us on countless adventures. Because of him, we found this wonderful community and made memories we’ll treasure forever.

Now we’re learning how to navigate a home without him—empty beds (all five of them), fur still tucked in corners from shedding season, and the quiet where his presence used to be.

Rest easy, sweet Jake. Mahm and Dahd love you like crazy. We’ll see you again one day. by @corgijake

One year ago today Jake left this earth.

I have replayed that day many times in my head. I still miss him, and I think about him every day.

Grief still has a strong hold on me. It’s just less visible and less public now. But even 365 days later, that hasn’t diminished how much I miss him.

Immediately after losing a pet, your whole system just goes into shock. Routines are broken, the cheese tax is going unpaid, and depression slips in. What’s the point of getting up?

Without the support of the corgi community, this process would have been so much harder. The love and support we have received over this past year has meant everything to us.

A year later, I still haven’t read the notes that were written for Jake. I just haven’t found the mental strength to do that yet. But thank you to everyone who took the time to write one. Thank you for taking the time to remember him and to think of us.

I still miss you every day, Jake.

I loaf you.

Angel Jake in space. I actually forgot we did this with @crunchlabs and I received this picture today.

Now I know for sure Jake is always watching over us.

We learned so much from Jake, and so much more after loosing him. Floors can be moped, carpets can be cleaned and many things can be replaced, but the time we get to spend with them can’t. So waffles gets to absorb our love and added patience, something we wouldn’t have without Jake.
