Let’s breakdown LeBron’s viral balance workout 🏋️

Lionel #messi just turned 39, but you wouldn’t know it how he is still playing. While most players his age have transitioned into coaching or retirement, Messi continues to defy time, putting on an absolute masterclass at the #worldcup2026

The secret to his historic longevity? It isn’t magic—it’s a calculated behind-the-scenes commitment to physical resilience and functional strength. A peak into his training routine reveals a heavy emphasis on stability, upper-body power, and rigid core strength, zeroing in on key movements:

* Shoulder External Rotation: Essential for soccer players battling for position. Developing the rotator cuff and upper back muscles allows him to shield the ball, hold off aggressive defenders, and maintain upper-body balance during rapid changes of direction.

* Barbell Bench Press: While soccer is primarily played with the feet, elite level pitch-control requires immense upper-body pressing power. The classic bench press builds the pectoral and tricep strength needed to physically dominate 1-on-1 duels.

* Ab Rollouts: The ultimate anti-extension core exercise. By rolling out with a wheel or barbell, Messi builds a bulletproof midsection. This intense core stability translates directly to the pitch, acting as the bridge that transfers power from his legs through his torso, enabling those signature explosive turns and pinpoint strikes.

Age is just a number when the work ethic remains unmatched. By prioritizing functional weightlifting over purely traditional cardio, Messi ensures his body can handle the brutal physical demands of the world’s biggest tournament, keeping Argentina clinical, competitive, and entirely dangerous.

Houston Trip 2026

This month I had a once in a lifetime opportunity to share a trip with my dad to the @fifaworldcup and watch my favorite player @cristiano play for his @portugal team. It was a fun time and since I was in town I had to stop by @official_alphaland to get in a workout. I ended up having a chance meeting with the owner and creator of @alphalete @christianguzmanfitness and he was a real genuine down to earth guy. Grateful to share these moments with my dad and looking forward to new experiences soon 👀

The focus on today’s workout is on RFD with athletic movements including hang snatch, split jerks and pull up’s among other exercises.

Eric and I really made an effort to nail the speed and technique here, as for my training i’m going in to my 2nd block after this deload which will help my body recover and adapt for improved athleticism! Stay tuned for more!

Road to 40inch Vert!

This is my last workout of this current cycle on a jump/power day. I will be taking a deload week this coming week and starting my 2nd block focused on Rate of Force Development.

Based on how i’m feeling, how fast i’m running and especially how close I am to meeting my jumping goal I think i’m on track. #jumptraining #verticaljump #Squats #plyos #sprints by @coronaxathletics

Day 1 Max Effort Upper Body (Bench Press Focus)

BLOCK 1: Force Accumulation (Weeks 1–4)
Goal: Build the absolute raw force potential. A higher strength floor directly increases the ceiling for your power clean, vertical jump, and sprint drive phases.

Max Effort Upper Body Day

Primary Lift:
Barbell Bench Press:
Work up to a heavy, high-effort 3-rep max (Week 1 & 2), then progress to a heavy 1-rep max (Week 3 & 4). Stop when bar speed slows significantly.

Accessories:
Dips (Weighted if possible): 3 sets x 8 reps @ 8 RPE.

Barbell Rows: 4 sets x 8 reps.

Smith Machine Shrugs: 3 sets x 15 reps.

Lower body power day 💥

The focus here was to introduce a heavy stimulus mainly in the concentric portion of the the 2 main lifts (squat & deadlift) thus cutting it to a quarter movement in order to prepare for more explosive movements that followed (hang power clean and vertical jumps).

After the strength and power portions of this workout are completed I finished with a hypertrophic focus for the calve muscles, keeping the weight relatively heavy but being sure to get plenty of reps for exposure to volume.

Follow for more ways to improve your athleticism and wellbeing!
