Kinda chic to be in a room full of women who root for each other. I 💖 being a barre instructor! by @corrinstar

I’ve cried a lot about how difficult being a mother has been. Baby years, easy. Toddler years, struggling.

I thought I would have help. You know, tv shows and movies really set me up to romanticize motherhood..and a part of that love story was imagining my parents, sisters and friends coming over everyday and being this amazing support system.

But that’s not the case… of course there’s some hurt around it, and there’s also acceptance and understanding. I recognize it’s not the way this man-made system is set up to be.

The support village doesn’t exist the way it used to, but if I trust everything is by God’s design then I have to trust that even though it’s hard, it’s worth it.

The beauty God led me to about this:
YOU may not have the village, but you ARE the village.

I get to feel the villageless mother experience so that my children don’t have to, so that my grandbabies won’t have to, and so on and so on.

WE are the next elders
WE are the next wise counsel
WE are the ones our children get to call for support, we are the ones who get to answer their “can you come over?” with “I’ll be right there.”

Only God knows what the future has in store, but I want to be ready for that much. I want to be ready for motherhood today, tomorrow and 30 years from now.

God is merciful…😔😮‍💨

I pray if you read this, and your journey of parenting has also felt isolated, that you feel a little more uplifted by this too.

God is preparing our lineages through us.

The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore. Psalm 121:8

Fathers are the head of their home, Mothers are the house.

Take care of these positions wisely and integrally. There is no “healed world” if you don’t do the work at home, first.

Proverbs 20:7 The just man walketh in his integrity: his children blessed after him.

Proverbs 31:28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also , and he praiseth her.

Proverbs 31:31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

💗Swipe for Before & Afters💗
Around 3 months postpartum I started losing a loooot of hair 🥲 I immediately got to using The Mama’s Halo Hair Oil once (sometimes twice) a day, about 5x’s a week.

Combined with scalp massages, wrapping my hair and traditional methods of postpartum nourishment, THIS is the result after just 4 months! My hair is growing back and its overall health has greatly improved.

I recommend this beautiful hair oil to ALL my postpartum mom friends and clients! Thank you @themamashalo for saving my locs! 💆🏽‍♀️

Follow @wombnofyahawah for more on postpartum care! Then head over to @themamashalo & grab a bottle of Hair Oil 🙌🏽

Free, Easy and Luxurious Ways to Support a Mama (and her family) in the Postpartum Time!

You don’t have to spend any money to support a new mother. Most often, simply checking in and showing love is the most nourishing. So whether life is too full, or finances are too strapped, this is a list that has a little bit of everything to easily show you care.

(You’ll notice cleaning repeats itself a lot…you have no idea how valuable this is 😮‍💨😅🙌🏽)

Please keep in mind: everybody’s wants and needs are different. When choosing off these types of lists, check in with the mother and her family FIRST! It’s about showing up for THEM in their very special, very temporary time with their little baby.

You’re also not obligated to do anything, but it does mean a lot to a family with a newborn when you do.

🤍Save these list if you’re a mom who struggles with answering “how can I help” and Let them help!
💗Save this list to refer back to next time you want to show up for a mom in your life

Mamas, would you add anything to these lists?

We can take care of the mother and acknowledge that her health matters too.

We can hold space for the mama who gave birth, whether her experience was traumatic or not.
We can be available to the mamas with no support team.
We can show up for the strong mamas too.
We can change the way mothers are embraced in their healing.
We can hold our mothers while she holds her baby.
We can normalize 40+ days of supporting mothers in the postpartum time.

Because in nearly every situation,
a healthy mother IS a healthy baby.

⚠️🌹Please stop responding to mothers like this when they begin to open up about the trials of their pregnancy or birth. If you don’t know how to acknowledge them, saying that you don’t is better than statements that feel dismissive of her well-being. The health of the woman who gave birth matters *just as much* as the baby who was born.

All Praise To The Most High,
gratitude to the teachers and the mothers who gave me examples when my first was born,
& gratitude to my husband for stepping into a pp-care provider role on top of all his other responsibilities.

I pray for more mothers to receive proper postpartum care.

I’m talking pregnancy ➡️ until my child is old enough to understand that behaving these ways is not a good look.

A new mom gives herself enough pressure and guilt,
Children are too impressionable
and It’s too precious of a time to settle for anything less than joy.

Unapologetically and humbly.

Isaiah 8:11-13 For the Lord spake thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying, Say ye not, A confederacy, to all whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid. Sanctify the Lord of hosts himself; and him your fear, and him your dread.

Psalm 18:47-48 God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me. He delivereth me from mine enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.

Every mother’s unspoken love language.

What was the most loving thing you received or were told in your postpartum time?
