Bleach in your bath?! 🛁

It sounds crazy, but dilute bleach baths are actually used in dermatology for some people with eczema.

When properly diluted in water, bleach can generate hypochlorous acid (HOCl), which has antimicrobial properties and may help reduce certain bacteria on the skin, particularly Staphylococcus aureus, which is commonly found on eczema-prone skin.

It’s a specific approach that may help some people with eczema and should be done using the correct dilution and instructions.

⚠️ Please don’t copy a random amount from social media. Concentration, product type, bath size, and soaking time matter. If you have eczema and are considering a bleach bath, check with your dermatologist first.

Retinoids interact with cellular signaling and gene expression, affecting processes such as keratinocyte proliferation, differentiation, and turnover.

And interestingly, studies on topical tretinoin have shown increased epidermal thickness, alongside changes in the dermis; including increased collagen/procollagen production and reduced pathways involved in collagen degradation.

That doesn’t mean retinoids are risk-free.

They can cause irritation, dryness, redness and peeling, especially when introduced too quickly or used excessively. That’s why gradual introduction and proper sun protection are important.

⚠️ Not safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women
