POSTS STORIES REELS

While we showed all three days of the @rawdogsport_psa trial, my favorite showings by far were on Saturday for the first leg of our 1. Rev came out hot in both OB and protection and I was so happy with his enthusiasm. I was generally satisfied with our PDC showing the day prior, but day two he was even better. Part of what I love about this dog is his expression in the work and I was thrilled it was on display in trial.

Final scores:
OB: 95.5/100
Protection: 213.5/220
TOTAL: 309/320

The points we did lose in OB were my fault, and it also showed me some things I need to refine more. Protection went smoothly for the most part, with the exception of him taking his sweet time outing off of @jcamposkalifas in our attack on handler. 🤣

Hard to cut everything down to a 1.5 minute Reel, but I tried. These are some of my favorite moments, and I am SO beyond grateful to have had @ashlynandpaws behind the lens for me. ❤️

Thank you decoys for the safe catches and great pressure! @rick__bruce @neilvillhauer @art_ofthe_bark @dogstronauts by @courtneymaephoto

I’m super excited to share the first designs for the K9 side of my photo business! These pieces were done by none other than the immensely talented @el_rockygsd.

I obviously spend a lot of time around working dogs, so I felt that it was only appropriate that these pieces reflect the power and energy that these dogs often possess.

The first design is even based on my own dog, Rev, which feels incredibly special to me. He’s a huge part of why I’ve ventured so far into this world and I’m excited to honor that.

For those who care to wear my company name on their backs, I’m currently looking at options for merch with these designs, so I’ll share details on how to order in the near future. Thank you to everyone who has and continues to support my work. Your kindness and support mean more than I could ever describe. 🖤 by @courtneymaephoto

REVENANT: PDC + PSA1 single weekend close out

151/155 PDC
1st Place PSA1 Saturday
3rd Place PSA1 Sunday
High in Trial
High Protection
High Owner Trained
High Owner Trained Club

This trial awards us as the second team in United States PSA history to close both PDC and PSA1 in one weekend; being the first on the west coast and the first ever to receive High Owner Trained.

My first time stepping on the trial field was an absolute whirlwind. I want to thank @1excelk9 for her excellent judging in this trial. It was an honor to trial under her. Risa’s judging was fair, insightful, and adhered to a high standard. She also knew how to make me laugh during critique.

I’ve always thought that the trial field is where your training and your relationship with your dog will show their true colors. This weekend affirmed that belief. It also reinforced that PSA requires a village of support backing each dog and handler. I can’t thank my @rawdogsport_psa family enough for their endless support and hard work.

@510frisk, thank you for being the best husband and support I could dream of. Thank you for listening to my endless training talk, curbing my self doubt, and telling me, “You can do this.” I love you.

@thatboyricky @spectrumk9 thank you for giving me the dog I didn’t know I needed. He has changed my life in all the best ways, as have you. @_isabelzamora @azukirbyjinx @dogstronauts @spectrumk9_steve you have been there since day one and I can never thank you enough for everything you’ve done for us.

Thank you so much to everyone who has congratulated us, who showed up to support, who has had a hand in our journey so far. You know who you are. Thank you to all of the incredible decoys who put in real work this weekend, and kept dogs safe. @art_ofthe_bark @neilvillhauer @dogstronauts @jcamposkalifas @rick__bruce

I’ll post more soon, but for now I’m just going to go enjoy some time with my boy. ❤️

I can’t get over how talented @courtneymaephoto is 🤩

Please enjoy photos of Jinx’s obedience warmup routine by @courtneymaephoto

We closed out our 2’s this past Saturday 🎉

Thank you @sroberts1731 for judging, @bayareapsa for hosting and all the decoys for the safe catches.

We wouldn’t have made it this far without my village @steeldriverspsa 🫶

Then we tried in West Coast Regionals.

Obedience went great and protection started phenomenal. Jinx is so fun to watch.

Out of nowhere after the fleeing apprehension, she flopped to the ground and her legs didn’t work. She tried her hardest to recall, but she was so confused why it wasn’t working.

@_apex_empire caught her perfectly, nothing unusual. It was a normal flee bite!

No one has any idea what happened.

Thank god @thatboyricky was there and really took control of the situation while I bawled uselessly. Never in a million years did I expect this to happen.

We took her immediately to the nearest ER vet. I was expecting the worst. Her PSA career is for sure over.

The ER vet examined her and she was cleared of any broken bones or tears. But I wasn’t convinced. How can this happen with nothing?

I made an appointment with the best orthopedic vet in the bay, hoping for some answers.

While we waited for the appointment, Jinx was feeling more herself day after day.

I took her to the appointment and the vet examined her. He commented multiple times that she has beautiful physiology and excellent conditioning, but he could not find anything wrong with her physically. She has no pain, no range of motion loss. As far as he could tell, she is perfectly healthy.

He doesn’t think it’s a pinched nerve bc she had no persistent pain.

His theory is that she had a pinched blood vessel (basically a total freak accident) and he doesn’t anticipate this to be a recurring issue. He doesn’t even have enough during the exam to warrant any tests or scans.

So thank you everyone who checked in on us whether in person, through text or dms. We really felt the love from the community.

Fingers crossed this doesn’t happen again. She is cleared to go back to work after a week of rest! by @courtneymaephoto

Three of the sweetest pups there ever were. 💖 Did this session with @dakovuu a while back and realized I never shared some of my favorite shots. ☀️ by @courtneymaephoto

Absolutely love these shots from @tannerdyrness from my session with @adamsdogstuff___ a couple of weeks ago. 🖤

Got in some great reps Adam before his big weekend. He came all the way from Australia to certify and absolutely killed it. Congrats again, Adam! Well deserved and we can’t wait to see you on the trial field.

Swipe to the end for a surprise 🏎️💨 by @courtneymaephoto

Happy birthday to Jinx and to every Koa x Savage dog.

Jinx is the dog I got when I wasn’t even looking for a dog. How lucky I am to have the privilege of sharing my life with her.

Happy 3rd birthday Rev — the dog who changed my life in too many ways to count. I struggle to envision what my world would look like if I’d never had the privilege of owning this dog. Our bond, the friends and chosen family he has connected me to, the big adventure that is training for and competing in PSA… it has all brightened my world in so many ways.

He has made me more patient. More understanding. More comfortable in trusting my intuition and training. He has shown me what working your ass off and sticking to your plan can yield. The lessons he’s taught me are innumerable.

I am so lucky to have this silly, vibrant, ridiculously funny dog. It is legitimately hard to have a bad day with him around. His joy and enthusiasm are infectious.

Love you so much, buddy. 🖤🐾 by @courtneymaephoto
