We will celebrate the life of our friend Saturday October 3rd at 9:00am the best way we know how, with a workout. Jason loved competing and training and we will gather together and honor him.

All are welcome to come join us. Please respond to this event so we know how to plan accordingly with space, parking and food.

If you knew Jason you knew he had a few movements he absolutely loved! Handstand push-ups and bar muscle ups were at the top of that list and there wasn’t a Saturday at the gym he wasn’t working on handstand walks.

It wasn’t too hard to come up with something I think he would have approved of. This one is for you buddy, we love and miss you.

“Jason”

For Time:
49’ Handstand Walk
Into
7 rounds:
7 - Strict Handstand Push-ups
7 - Bar Muscle ups
7 - Power Cleans (155lbs/105lbs)
Into
49’ Handstand Walk

Jason was 49 years old at the time of his death, I used that number to celebrate those 49 years of life.
••
49 reps of each movement.

For those who would like to attend our October 3rd community memorial workout for Jason it will take place at 9:00am at CrossFit 301 Elite.

We’ve had an amazing amount of interest so far. Because of that and the size of our gym we have created a partner workout to allow for all to participate.

We hope that you can make it out and if you’d like to do either of these workouts at your own gym to honor Jason I know he would have loved that.

Jason loved competing more than anyone I’ve ever met. There’s no better way to honor him except with a good ol’ CrossFit workout.
••
49 minutes of total time
49 reps of each movement every round.
*We have a recommended weight for wall balls and dumbbells, however you can choose whatever weight works best for you and what’s available based on turn out!
- Wall balls (20lbs/14lbs)
- Dumbbell Snatch (50lbs/35lbs)
*At our gym the box step ups and push ups will be outside, we programmed box push ups based on surface. Regular pushups are fine as well.

Scaling and any modifications needed will be provided during workout briefing Oct. 3rd by @crossfit301elite

We are heartbroken to lose a friend, a member of our gym community and the ultimate competitor.

Jason has been a staple of our CrossFit 301 Elite community for the last 6 years. No one loved the CrossFit Open or an online qualifier like Jason. He’d have every print out needed and knew every detail about the rules! With his reading glasses on the tip of his nose we’d go over them before our Friday Night Lights. He would always help judge and was always the most excited person in the room when a fellow member would PR or hit a muscle up for the first time. Jason loved CrossFit honestly more than anyone I’ve ever known.

We will miss you next open my friend, we will miss training with you on Saturdays after class ends. We will miss you this winter when it’s too cold to train in your garage so you come during morning classes so you can feel your hands on a bar. We will simply miss you buddy.

METCON RUSH won’t be the same without you, I loved talking programming with you and getting your input on what other competitions you were doing and what did you like about them so I could continue to try and make ours better.

I don’t get a chance to see many of the workouts but I met you at the end of the clean ladder this year when you casually cleared it and said to me “Ahh man I probably should have done more weight” and with a big smile and high five. I’m thankful for that moment.

We will keep a lane open for you next year brother, that’s a promise.

Praying for you and your family. We love you buddy. by @crossfit301elite

Grief doesn’t follow a timeline, and healing doesn’t look the same for everyone. Sometimes the best thing we can do is simply show up, stand beside each other, and carry a little light when someone else can’t find theirs. This morning was about Jason, his life, and the community that remembers him.

Honored to have had the opportunity to be a part of remembering Jason’s life, with his family, in today’s partner wod at @crossfit301elite

Check on your friends. You never know what someone may be carrying in silence.

Yesterday, my @crossfitunlimitedpotential family came together to help me honor a dear friend of mine, @jasonbowers77 .

In the CrossFit community, one of the ways we honor a life is through a workout—and yesterday, that’s exactly what we did. This tribute WOD was designed by Jason’s home gym, @crossfit301elite , and @metconrush , an in-person competition where Jason competed regularly.

Yesterday was filled with so many emotions.

There was happiness and pride watching my CFUP family show up in force to help me honor a friend who left this world far too soon. There was sadness knowing Jason won’t physically be at the next competition. Sadness for his wife, @amandabxs5 , his children, and all of the people who loved him. It sadness me knowing that my friend was carrying emotions that had become overwhelming.

Jason left this world on September 7th at just 49 years old, leaving behind so many people who loved him, including his wife Amanda and his children, whom he absolutely adored.

To my CFUP family—thank you. You guys always show up for me. When I need you, you’re there, ready to do whatever needs to be done. Yesterday was another reminder of just how special this community is to me.

Thank you to Kelly for the amazing idea of honoring Jason with shirts for everyone to wear. Thank you to @sigrid.almeida_ and her new company @sa_arch.studio for taking time out of your busy life to bring those shirts to life with so much love for Jason.

Thank you to @dsbarka , who was also a friend of Jason’s, for making the 2+ hour trip from New Hampshire to be my partner for this tribute WOD. Having you beside me meant more than you know.

And thank you to @yostjodi and @allyvienscf for making sure we had food and fruit afterward and for providing everyone with suicide prevention awareness bracelets.

This loss will be felt for a long time by so many people.

I know every time I have the opportunity to step back onto a competition floor, part of me will be looking for my friend Jason. And somehow, I know you’ll be there.

Until we meet again, brother. ❤️

Your life mattered. Your friendship mattered. And you will not be forgotten.
