POSTS STORIES REELS

And just like that, our first season of the flower field at CS Ranch has come to an end. We got our first frost last night, and the flowers looked sun kissed and fairy dusted all at the same time. It's bittersweet to watch our first season of flower farming come to an end.

But don't worry! We have been storing the last harvest from earlier this week and we have fall harvest bouquets (some in pumpkins) and wild foraged wreaths available tomorrow at @barnandbottlerefillery by @csranchpagosa

A fun Summer was had. Thanks to our rock star hosts for putting on so many amazing events. As we slip into Fall, look out for some cozy events and socials on Heylo👯‍♀️

The Bunkhouse is starting to look a lot less like a construction project and a lot more like somewhere you could actually stay. 🙌🏡

The shower is tiled (including that river rock floor), drywall is up, floors are in, walls are painted, and trim is going in as we speak. We’ve also been patching + repainting the living area and sanding + re-staining the existing trim.

It’s finally coming together!

The Bunkhouse sits just steps from our micro flower field on 37 acres bordering National Forest. Our vision has always been for it to be more than simply a place to sleep in Pagosa. We want guests to get a little taste of life on the property we fell in love with. Morning coffee interrupted by goats escaping from their pen 🐐🤪, flowers blooming in the summer, days exploring the mountains, and somewhere quiet to come back to at night.

One thing we want to be clear about: CS Ranch is our home and a working, evolving property. We’re constantly planting, building, fixing, experimenting, and dreaming up the next project. And if you know Kaitlyn, you know “Let’s Do Everything at Once” is basically her middle name. 😂

So if you’re looking for a perfectly manicured resort with no dirt on your boots, this probably isn’t it. There may be a project underway, a tractor moving around, weeds we haven’t gotten to yet, and yes… probably some horse poop.

But if you want to stay somewhere real — where flowers are growing, animals are being cared for, things are being built, and you can experience a little piece of ranch life — that’s exactly what we’re creating.

And we’d love your help shaping it. We made a quick survey about what you’d want from a stay here, when you’d visit, pricing + what would make you say, “Yep, I’d book that.”

Comment “SURVEY” and we’ll DM it to you. 👇

P.S. Should we share the Bunkhouse interior moodboard next? 👀 Tell us below and we’ll make it our next Bunkhouse post. by @csranchpagosa

A few sweet moments from our little pop-up outside @highergroundscoffeeco last weekend 🌸

One of my favorite parts was helping this little flower lover build her own bud vase — very serious decisions were made about each stem. 😂

It was so nice getting to meet more of you, talk flowers, and start putting faces to the community we’ve been growing this field for all season. This is exactly what we hoped the flower field would become — not just a place to grow flowers, but another reason for people to gather, create, and connect.

We’re already dreaming about U-Pick days out in the field next summer, and little moments like this make us even more excited to eventually welcome you all out to the ranch. 🌿

In the meantime, we get to do it again this weekend! We’ll be at @barnandbottlerefillery for their Grand Opening this Saturday, September 5, with fresh CS Ranch flowers in tow. 🌻

Come say hi, grab some flowers, and help us celebrate another local business putting down roots in our community. 🤎 by @csranchpagosa

The Café au Laits are almost here 🌸 And so far, they’re proving to be some of the most prolific bloomers in the field.

Royal Rouge + Darjeeling sunflowers are officially blooming, Gold Rush is right behind them, and things are starting to get very colorful around here.

We have flowers available in our market bouquets, as well as DIY wedding buckets for anyone wanting to create their own wedding florals. And these Café au Laits? That dreamy neutral, beige-y blush was practically made for a wedding palette. 🤎 by @csranchpagosa

Velvet Queen sunflower is here and she and her dahlia friends will be available tomorrow @highergroundscoffeeco Tuesday night market. 4-7 pm. 💐 Come see us!

We have been up to our elbows in dirt over here. 🌱

Over the last few months, I've started more than 1,500 seeds and then obsessed over them like they're newborn babies. I've tested our soil like any good geologist's daughter would, then proceeded to act like I've been reading soil reports my whole life. I've researched regenerative soil amendments, read about cover crops for fun, and spent entire weeks on webinars learning everything from mass composting and soil blocking to irrigation systems and greenhouse airflow.

At this point, I know more about the bacteria and fungi needed to build a healthy soil ecosystem than I do about anything happening in pop culture.

The crazy thing is that this whole flower business started because I used to make my best friend a giant whimsical arrangement every year from all the blooms exploding out of my garden for her birthday. One day, we were standing beside one of my raised beds and she looked around and said, "You obviously have something magical here. You need to share it."

Now, not even a year later, here we are—8,000 square feet of outdoor flower field space and 2,000 square feet of greenhouse space.

It has been the biggest learning curve. There have definitely been a few casualties along the way. 🙃 Sean is actively learning how not to kill plants, and what I thought would be two weekends assembling this greenhouse somehow turned into eight. But it also meant long days outside with friends showing up to help, sharing meals, stories, and power tools.

I will admit, im my head, I thought we'd be much farther along by now. I had the perfect timeline all figured out. But it turns out flowers don't care much about my timelines, and neither does building something worth growing.

Most days I come inside after dark with dirt under my nails, on my face, and tangled in my hair.

The perfectionist in me wants to wait to share photos until the field is overflowing with blooms, but if I've learned anything lately, it's that life is short—just like our Colorado growing season—and so much of life, progress, and growth happens in the in-between. by @csranchpagosa

Ya know when you first meet a person and the conversation inevitably turns to "so what do you do?"

Most people respond with something like: "I'm a teacher." "I work in finance." "I'm on the marketing team for ______." Well there were times in my life where I feel like that type of response was relevant for me. But now it's more a matter of quickly running through a list in my brain and wondering what aspect of my life is most relevant to THIS conversation. I NEVER know what to tell people, because I do so many things and wear so many hats these days. Until the other day.

Because the one thing that has been consistent through every phase of my very non-linear career path is the little menagerie of animals I seem to acquire. And okay, "Collector of Animals" is not technically a job, but I think it has a nice ring to it. So from here on out, that's what I'm going to tell people - I'm a "professional creature collector" if you will. And personally, I think it has the potential to lead to a way more interesting conversation than the average "I work in IT."

So on that note, meet the newest member of @csranchpagosa . Welcome to the fam, Alchemy!

Don't worry, I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be. 🧘🏻‍♀️🐐

The biggest and floofiest flower farmer here @csranchpagosa 🐾🤍🌸

Starting flowers from seeds will humble you in the best way.

You choose the varieties.
Mix the soil.
Press the blocks.
Plant something so tiny it seems impossible that a whole flower will come from it…
and then you wait.

Weeks later, the first sprouts have pushed through, and suddenly it all feels real and so worth the risk.

This is the beginning of our first flower season at CS Ranch, and it already feels a lot like the creative process: intention, patience, and trusting what you can’t rush.

If you want to follow along as we grow, the Bloom List gets first updates on the flower field and everything coming this season [link In bio]. 🌿

Bunkhouse bathroom progress report 🛠️

The framing is up, plumbing rough-in is done and the electric is underway, which means the layout from the building plans is finally starting to feel real.

Still very much a construction zone, but it’s exciting to watch the pieces come together. We are one step closer to having guests at CS Ranch!

Follow along for more updates on the build!
