Happy Hallo-week featuring Millie attacking House of Leaves! by @currentreadsandsips

When I plan my vacation reads, I normally like to plan for 3 reads:

1️⃣ a thriller - preferably one that’s a little spooky
2️⃣ something that’s been on my physical tbr for a bit because that way I can feel productive while relaxing &
3️⃣ something about the city/state/country I’m visiting

And this trip, I had the first two lined up with @helenaechlin’s Clever Little Thing and @stacyvwillingham’s All the Dangerous Things. From there, my kindle backlog and one quick-ish search for good and comprehensive histories of the Dominican Republic did the rest.

Let me know if you’ve read anything good on your last trip! by @currentreadsandsips

Ok I know I’ve said a few times that I’m coming back to bookstagram but this feels for real this time!

But clearly have been mostly MIA this year because I have a 3 month wrap up of my summer reads. 🙈

Let me know in the comments if you’ve read any of these (or if you have good recommendations). by @currentreadsandsips

🖤 Are you ready for another horror bingo reading update? 🖤

Well, Ready or Not (part 2 please watch), I am. So today I am sharing the book I picked up for the “eyeballs on the cover” promotion:

👀 And He Shall Appear by @katevanderborgh

I am glad I finally got to this because it’s an interesting take on the tradition of dark academia. Adding in the mystical, magical layer — and what it brings to your questions of narrative reliability — was a very good time.

While not strictly horror, I always feel like dark academic reads just conjure autumnal ambience so… we’re counting it. by @currentreadsandsips

Guess which 3 I for sure picked up from @busboysandpoets last weekend? by @currentreadsandsips

Back at it with the white vans!

But the white vans are really just an overdue update on the wedding season horror bingo. If you missed the first one, @shannahelf made the sweetest most thoughtful bingo and it’s been making me pick up some books I’ve been putting off.

This one features the nonfiction terror by Eleanor Johnson (@atriabooks). And stay tuned for many more as I finally get to these updates 🙈 by @currentreadsandsips

🖤 it’s time for everyone’s favorite season 🖤

If I had my way, we would’ve been decorating on August 1 but relationships are about compromise. So the decorations will all go up before September 1. Stay tuned for some more decorating AND for a peek at my spooky season TBR. by @currentreadsandsips

At this point, I’m just going to smush June and July reads into a single wrap up post because my streak of being really good at posting over here has clearly continued… by @currentreadsandsips

I promise to post a June reading update before August is over. In the meantime, here’s one of my latest reads and where I read it 🙈 by @currentreadsandsips

A new series thanks to the best ever book friend @shannahelf!

And also thanks to @catward66 because we met at one of her book signings in Washington, DC. So if you are closely looking at the boxes, the book signing one makes so much sense and might be the one I’m most excited for! by @currentreadsandsips

I am trying to post more and honestly twice in a month is a win for 2026!

So I thought I’d kick off trying again with a little roundup of 6 books that are short but stick with you a long time:

🖤 Midnight on Beacon Street
🖤 On Earth As It Is Beneath
🖤 Sofa
🖤 The Day of the Door
🖤 Dark Harvest
🖤 Pick a Color by @currentreadsandsips

So I know I said this I think twice before this year… but I promise I’m going to be better at posting here again!

I had a few exciting life updates that distracted me from reading and posting here, but everything is balancing out again. 🪩 by @currentreadsandsips
