“Somebody raised you right” is one of my favorite compliments from strangers because I know who raised me. My Queens. My mom and grandmother. And before anything, when I step outside, I’m a reflection of them first…I do have my village but I know who did all the heavy lifting 💎 This night was special because my grandma got to feel like the princess she always knew she was. If I ever had a chance to meet her inner child, it was this night. Seeing her get her flowers like this is a moment I’ll never take for granted because even though I got to grow up with her at home, she touched so many lives outside of that household. She’s so lowkey about how she shows up for the world but it’s never gone unnoticed to me. Not only has she been my rock and safe space, but also a mentor for my spirit and inspiration for my heart. I know Unconditional Love because of her ❤️ Seeing her dance with her sisters is something I know she cherishes and you can always count on them to show out together! And not to mention my great grandad who’s approaching 90 was able to celebrate his daughter turning 70. He’s pretty much like The Don to us. It was 5 generations of family in that room. The level of healing and love was magical. Being home always reminds me of my why — FAMILY. by @d.k.goldheart
To my inner child… …..it’s my duty to make sure you never have to close your heart again. The beauty it held and continues to hold, makes it an absolute pleasure to reconnect with you. And it’s an honor to help carry out your vision to bring more love into the world 🌹 by @d.k.goldheart
For 364 days out the year I feel like I’m trying to save the world…but on this day, my birthday……..I just want some good food and to be around love. And thank you to all who have sent some love my way today 🌹🩵 And shout to my dawg @blak24.7 for the pics 🔥🔥 He flew all the way out from Cali to kick it with us in the Dice and see how we were raised!! A recommendation 🌹 by @d.k.goldheart
This past week I had the pleasure of performing at @sdwinedown and it was one I’ll always cherish. It was an opportunity for me not to just perform some of my most vulnerable music, but also a chance to speak vulnerably about the songs. I’ve taken the past 4-5 years to process A LOT of what led me to be who I am currently. In the trenches of shadow work learning the power of alchemizing my life’s lessons to give them back through my artistic expressions. I’ve learned more than anything that I shouldn’t be scared to speak from my heart and that’s why having that moment on that stage will sit with me forever. And I don’t think it was ever about being scared to speak in front of people, but more scared of being received. The perspective I’ve adopted moving forward is that it actually doesn’t matter who’s ready to receive my truths…it’s that I should never be scared to speak from my heart. So big shout out to @sdwinedown for a beautiful event and curating a dope safe space full of love and good vibes! And shout out to @dymairose because she is the first person to ever actually get a pic with me following a performance. Has been a great supporter and friend ever since we met! She also took that last pic of me 🔥🔥🔥 Life is truly as beautiful as we allow it to be…🌹 by @d.k.goldheart
