Did you know that Tenzing Norgay la is a Tibetan being born to Tibetan parents? I did not and watching this interview has really inspired me.

On this day 71 years back in 1953 Tenzing Norgay la with Edmund Hillary climed and reached the highest point of the world at 🗻Mt. Everest.

In this interview with All India Radio, Kurseong conducted by Tsultrim Choephel la. Tenzing Norgay la mentions that he is a Tibetan as his father and mother came from Tibet and settled in Nepal, where he was born. A predicament which several Tibetans in exile and the diaspora have gone through.

He speaks calmly in Tibetan, sharing with us his journey in climbing/mountaineering and his message to youths worldwide.

Patriarchy is present everywhere like any other hierarchy. Its influence is prominent in our Tibetan way of life as well. Have you ever heard of a prominent women in our society who sits on a pedestal similar to a male? The blatant answer here is NO. However the fact is that we Tibetans are not short of such prominent women figures.

I had the unique opportunity to meet Dorjé Yudrön la recently. Being besides her one would not believe that not long ago she had raised up arms against the Chinese in the Tibetan town of Nyarong. She stood up for what was right and took the mantle of leadership when her town was being vandalized by the Chinese Liberation Army. Her actions provoked the Chinese leadership in many ways and also showed the strength of Tibetan resistance even in the 1950’s. I have never learned this part of history in my school days and wonder why it was not taught to us. Nonetheless I hope people spread the word and start questioning our own history as only then do we start the process of real learning.

Recently, I had the privilege of being interviewed by the Foundation for Non-Violence Alternatives (FNVA) @forfnva , hosted by @dadultenzing , on Unsilenced Voices of Tibet, Season 5, Episode 2.

During the conversation, I had the opportunity to share my thoughts on how Tibetan youth can become more actively engaged in Tibetan advocacy and discuss my future vision for Voluntary Tibet Advocacy Group India (VTAG) @vtag_india .

It was a meaningful and insightful conversation, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to share my perspective.

Have a watch and let me know your thoughts! by @dadultenzing

#avatarashandfire explores a conflict which we come across everyday. This very conflict might define how our future looks.

180+ minutes well spent and would recommend experiencing it. by @dadultenzing

Pivileged, fortunate and most importantly blessed to be part of the @tibetanyouthtenshug and the Tibetan Youth Festival held at Dharamshala in September. I learnt a lot being part of the comms team especially during the weekly online meetings leading up to the Tenshug.

This precious initiative showcased the undenying potential of Youth, the བོད་པ་ Youth in particular here.

A plethora of its participants/registrants were truly fortunate in recieving auspicious blessings by རྒྱལ་བ་རིན་པོ་ཆེ་ His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. All of us will never forget this and cherish it forever🙏 by @dadultenzing

‘The Autobiography of a Tibetan Monk’ by Palden Gyatso, translated and written in english with Prof. Tsering Shakya.

Also available to be read under the title ‘Fire Under The Snow: Testimony of a Tibetan Prisoner’.

One of the best books I have read this year.

If anyone wants to know the plight and struggle of Tibetans from a subaltern perspective, this is an essential book to read.

Palden Gyatso la is a Tibetan monk who was subjected to 33 years of imprisonment by the Chinese government in Tibet.

He shares in detail how Tibetans resists and suffers in བོད་ - Tibet under Beijing’s governance.

Palden Gyatso la had passed away on 30th Nov, 2018.

Thanking @gendungyatso for recommending it🙏 by @dadultenzing

There are few books that shake your perception.

Lodi Gyaltsen Gyari la’s book ‘The Dalai Lama’s Special Envoy: Memoirs of a Lifetime Pursuit of a Reunited Tibet’ is one of them.

After reading HH the Dalai Lama’s Voice for the Voiceless, this 📚 further provides deep and valuable insights on Tibet.

Highly recommend one to read it to known about Tibet. It might be long with 640 pages (excluding the preface, foreword, appendix, notes and references etc) but is certainly worth the read👍

A must read for the youths as it illustrates how the eleder generations of Tibetans and its supporters advocated for Tibet among other themes.
