Some years ago, I wrote a piece from a dimly lit place in my life. I was frustrated with work, feeling behind, and having dreams about what I thought was preaching… but that’s a story for another day. 😂

That poem became “Used By You.”

It tugged at my heart because it required me to say out loud what I had been carrying quietly: “God, I’m not where I want to be, but I trust You with wherever You plant my feet.”

I started trying different things, discovering who I was becoming outside of the titles I love so much…wife, mama, daughter, sister. Somewhere underneath all those responsibilities was a woman who needed to hear her own voice!

I didn’t have all the answers. I just kept asking God to use me as He saw fit.

“I’m Available to You” and “Order My Steps” stayed on REPEAT! Whew… some days, those songs said everything I couldn’t find the words to pray. 🙏🏽

Today, I’m grateful to be on the other side of those heavy feelings and moving with purpose. God really heard my prayers… annnd my begging, because Lord knows I did some of that too! 😂🙌🏽

What He released me from, I don’t miss. I’m still grateful for the opportunities and what they taught me, but I can see now how even that uncomfortable season helped lead me here.

I never would have bumped into purpose had it not been for pain.

So if everything feels like it’s falling apart, trust that HE’S putting something greater together. You may not see it yet. I surely didn’t when I wrote those words. But God heard me right there, in that dimly lit place.

Now I get to use my voice to tell the story. 💚
