Read this first 👇🏮 We actually regretted coming here 🙈 I don’t know if it’s like this every evening, but when we visited, it was so packed that we got completely stuck in the crowd. Nobody could move forward or back. We were just standing there, waiting for space to open up. Incredibly uncomfortable, and definitely not the evening stroll we’d imagined. Yes, it’s beautiful, but if you’re expecting a quiet, atmospheric village to wander around, adjust those expectations 🥲 The views you see everywhere are concentrated around a couple of streets, rather than the whole village looking like those famous photos. If you still want to visit, here are my two tips: ☀️ If you’re happy to miss the evening lanterns: go first thing in the morning, before your other day-trip stops. That’s how I’d plan it if I were doing this again. 🏮 If you really want to see it at night: try this alternative route to the famous photo spot. Between Taiwan Souvenirs and FamilyMart at the entrance, look for the taxi parking sign. Take the stairs down, turn left, and follow the path until you reach the stairs by the famous viewpoint. This lets you bypass the staircase where we got stuck. You’ll also skip the main souvenir street on the way there, but you can explore it on your way back if the crowds have eased. It’s an alternative way in, though it won’t guarantee a quiet viewpoint! I’d also aim for a weekday outside holidays, perhaps a Monday or Tuesday, rather than a busy weekend evening. Beautiful? Yes. But the crowds really affected our experience. Time your visit carefully and come with realistic expectations. 🤍 📍Jiufen, Taiwan #jiufen #taiwan #travel #travelblogger #instagramvsreality by @danaa_wanders
👇IF YOU’RE TRAVELLING TO TAIPEI, you need to know this 🚲🇹🇼 Renting YouBikes is such a game changer for long sightseeing days! By the evening, our legs were done with walking 😂 But we still wanted to explore more and enjoy the city, so we picked up two bikes and kept going, with Taipei 101 in the background 😍 You’ll see YouBike stations all around the city, and it’s honestly so easy to get started. Not sponsored, just something we tried and really enjoyed! Download the YouBike app, then you have two options 👇 📱 If you have a Taiwanese phone number that receives SMS, register for an account and link an EasyCard or iPASS to tap and ride. You can also use a credit card through the app. 💳 If you don’t have a Taiwanese number, choose “Single Rental” and sign up with your email and credit card. No transport card needed. Just be aware that they place a temporary NT$3,000 hold on your card, separate from the rental fee. Complete the free insurance registration during setup, and you’re ready to go! Once you’re finished, return the bike to a YouBike station. Such a nice way to give your feet a break without calling it a day just yet 🥰 Send this to your Taipei travel partner! #taipei #travel #taipeitravel #coupletravel #taiwan by @danaa_wanders

We ended up calling this hotel home for two months in 📍Kuala Lumpur📍, so here are a few things to know if you’re considering staying here: 💰 Price: usually around €250–€350 per night, depending on the room type, dates and availability. ✨ Service: St. Regis Butler Service is included, with a team that can help with everything from unpacking and arranging your clothes to making your stay feel a little more personal. 🍽️ Food & drinks: seven restaurants and bars, including The Brasserie, Astor Bar, The Drawing Room and several Japanese dining concepts. We ate at the hotel A LOT during our stay and the food was consistently delicious. 🎷 Don’t miss: Thursday evenings at Astor Bar for live jazz and genuinely great cocktails. One of our favourite little rituals while living here! 🏊‍♀️ Facilities: outdoor swimming pool with city views, Iridium Spa, fitness centre and a Kids Club. 🥂 Events: they also have a huge selection of spaces for weddings, celebrations and corporate events, including the Grand Ballroom, which can host more than 1,000 guests. 📍 Location: Kuala Lumpur Sentral. It’s very convenient for KL Sentral station and getting around by Grab, but it’s not the most walkable location if your priority is being right in the middle of KL’s main tourist areas. For places like Bukit Bintang, KLCC or Chinatown, expect to take a Grab or public transport. 📍ST REGIS, KUALA LUMPUR📍 Would you stay here? 🤍 #stregis #luxuryhotel #kualalumpur #malaysia #travel by @danaa_wanders

🎬 Most fun cinema experience in 📍Kuala Lumpur📍? Definitely one of the most fun movie nights we’ve had 🍿🍷 Fully reclining seats, blankets, proper food and drinks served straight to your seat… A few things to know before booking: 🍿 There are different types of cinema halls, so check which hall your movie is showing in before choosing your tickets. The experience + price can be quite different. 🎟️ We booked the Escape Studio suites and paid around €64 for two people, which included a food item + drink each. 🍽️ You can order additional food, desserts and drinks directly to your seat. 🍸 There’s also a beautiful bar/lounge area, so you can come earlier and have a drink before the movie. Honestly such a fun date-night idea in KL, especially if you want to do something a little different in the evening. ❤️ Save this for your Kuala Lumpur trip 🇲🇾 📍 Aurum Theatre, The Exchange TRX, Kuala Lumpur #kualalumpur #malaysia #asia #travel #coolcinema by @danaa_wanders
One of the most creative stops to add while exploring Chinatown! What started as REX Theatre back in 1947 has been given a completely new life as a creative community space, while still keeping parts of the original building. 📚 Explore the huge maze of bookshelves built into the old cinema 🛍️ Browse the little vintage shops 🎨 Check out the exhibitions & events 🍜 Don’t miss the food market downstairs with plenty of little spots to eat and drink You can easily spend from 15 minutes to an hour or two just wandering around, browsing the books and exploring the different corners of the building. Save this one for your Kuala Lumpur trip! 🇲🇾✨ 📍REXKL, KUALA LUMPUR📍 #travel #asia #facts #kualalumpur #malaysia by @danaa_wanders
👇10 things I’d do in CHINATOWN, KUALA LUMPUR 🇲🇾 Probably my favourite area in KL ❤️ If I were exploring it for the first time, this is how I’d spend the day: 🍵 11:30 AM | Niko Neko Matcha Start with genuinely one of the BEST matchas I’ve ever had. 🏛️ 12:15 PM | Merdeka Square Walk around the square and explore some of KL’s beautiful historic architecture. 🌊 1:00 PM | River of Life Walk along the river as you make your way towards Chinatown. 🩵 1:30 PM | Central Market Take your time exploring the market, little shops, crafts and souvenirs. 🇵🇹 2:30 PM | Bartolo Stop for lunch or some Portuguese snacks + pastéis de nata. 📚 4:00 PM | REXKL Explore the old cinema turned creative space, its huge maze of bookshelves, vintage shops and food market downstairs. 🏮 5:00 PM | Petaling Street Walk through the market and wander around the surrounding little streets. 🎨 6:00 PM | Kwai Chai Hong Explore the heritage alley, murals and lanterns while there’s still some beautiful golden light. 🍸 6:30 PM | The Attic Bar Head up for drinks + snacks and enjoy the sunset over Chinatown with a view over Mederka🌅 🥟 7:30 PM onwards | Hai Kee Fried Bun + Chinatown at night Once it’s dark, head back into the streets, see all the lanterns and signs lit up 🏮✨ and grab a freshly fried bun from Hai Kee. ❗️TIP: Check the exact sunset time for your dates and adjust the last few stops accordingly. 📌 Save this for your Kuala Lumpur trip 🇲🇾 #kualalumpur #malaysia #asia #chinatown #travel by @danaa_wanders
One of my favorite grocery stores in Kuala Lumpur for proper groceries & fresh food 🛒🥬🍣 📍 Isetan, Ground Floor of Suria KLCC, right inside the Petronas Towers. Perfect if you’re staying in KL for a little longer, but also worth a browse for the fresh food counters, snacks and ready-to-eat meals 👀 #travel #kualalumpur #malaysia #food #travelblogger by @danaa_wanders
👑 Musang King is considered the “king” of durians and for good reasons👇 First of all: durian isn’t just one thing. Malaysia has many registered durian varieties, each with a completely different flavour, texture and intensity. Musang King is officially known as “Turmeric King” and comes from Kelantan, Malaysia 🇲🇾. It was officially registered in 1993, but the variety existed long before that. So if you tried durian once and hated it… you might like this one 😊 Do you like durian?😊 #travel #asia #durian #food #malaysia by @danaa_wanders
By far our favorite restaurant in Kuala Lumpur ❤️ We’ve been here 20+ times and it genuinely never disappoints. 🐟 Food: consistently premium quality, especially the fish. 🍸 Drinks: Sooo good and qualitative 🍸We also love to ask Moe for a cocktail recommendation (it never dissapoints) 🍣 Where to sit: definitely the bar for us for the best atmosphere. 📍Make a reservation to ensure space🙏 Our most-ordered favorites: 🍣 Bluefin tuna akami tataki maki 🔥 Aburi bluefin tuna roll 🐟 Dry-aged bluefin tuna + kizami wasabi 🥟 Wagyu beef gyoza 💯 🥬 Spinach + sesame dressing 🌶️ Japanese shishito 🍄 Mushroom skewers 🫛 Edamame 💸 Price for 2: usually around RM250–750 (€50–150), depending on how much you order and whether you go for cocktails/premium fish. You can make it a fancy date night or a casual dinner at the bar, which is exactly why we love it so much. 🇯🇵 Our personal favorite recommendation in KL for a fun, modern take on Japanese cuisine. ❤️ #travel #kualumpur #malaysia #food #restaurantrecommendation by @danaa_wanders
Save this Kuala Lumpur tip for a slower day by the pool 🏙️☀️ Did you know you don’t need to stay at W Kuala Lumpur to spend the day at their WET Deck pool? 💰 Day pass: 50 MYR per adult (around €10 / $12) and 25 MYR per kid 🕙 Access: 10 AM–7 PM 🥥 Includes a fresh coconut + access to the changing and shower facilities 📍 WET Deck, W Kuala Lumpur If you want to sunbathe, I’d recommend coming before 2 PM, as afterwards the building shades pretty much the entire pool area. And if you’re staying until the evening, bring a change of clothes! You can get ready in the changing facilities and stay for drinks while watching the Petronas go from their daytime look to being completely lit up at night ✨ Just remember to reserve a separate table for the evening, as your pool day pass doesn’t guarantee one. Definitely a nice way to enjoy a slower day in KL with one of my favorite views of the Petronas. 🤍 #kualalumpur #malaysia #asia #tips #thingstodoinkl by @danaa_wanders
