🏆🏆🏆 TREMAINE’S 2026-2027 TEEN NATIONAL DANCER OF THE YEAR - Kendra Choque

AHHH! We are SO excited for Kendra to win this prestigious honor to represent Tremaine throughout their upcoming season! As their DOTY, she will have the opportunity to tour with them, train with the faculty, be an assistant in classes, and perform in their Faculty Shows!! Our past DOTY’s from DITS have been Amarisa LeBar (2014-2015), and Alejandro Vargas (2019-2020); and we are extremely HONORED and GRATEFUL to have a 3rd dancer from our studio be awarded with this National Title!

Kendra, ever since you were a little girl, you had a very special talent that all of our DITS teachers immediately recognized. Today, you’ve grown into an extremely captivating performer and an incredibly versatile dancer! We are so proud of you, and all of your endless hard work that helped you get to this point! Your future is bright! ⭐️🥰

Stay tuned for more of our Nationals recap, and special moments from the Gala night! 🫶 by @dancininthespotlight

✨INTRODUCING OUR 2026-27 TEEN DANCER OF THE YEAR: KENDRA CHOQUE✨ @kendra__leigh13

Hi! My name is Kendra Choque. I am 15 years old, and I am incredibly honored to be representing Tremaine as their Teen Dancer of the Year! Dance has shaped who I am today, helping me grow as an artist and performer, and I can’t wait to dance alongside the rest of my DOTY family this upcoming season!

Dance has been the biggest part of my life for as long as I can remember. Even as a toddler, I would wiggle around to music with a big smile on my face. Once I turned 5, my parents decided to enroll me in weekly ballet classes at Dancin’ In The Spotlight. From the moment I stepped into the studio, I knew I found something special. As my love for dance continued to grow, my teachers encouraged me to try more styles, and over time, I was taking every class my studio had to offer. With each new challenge, dance quickly became more than just an activity; it became the place where I felt most like myself.

My journey with Tremaine began in 2022, when I attended my very first convention in New York City. From the moment I walked into the ballroom, I remember being in shock of the talent surrounding me. The faculty taught me to push myself outside of my comfort zone, whether it was technically or artistically, and to dance for myself, not for awards. I would watch the past Tremaine Dancers of the Year in complete awe, looking up to each of them and the way they came together as a team. After that, Tremaine immediately stood out to me as more than just a convention—it felt like a community built on passion, dedication, and a shared love of dance. I learned to dig deeper, take risks, and trust myself as an artist, while also reminding myself that growth comes from both success and corrections. Tremaine has taught me to embrace every opportunity to learn, to remain open to feedback, and to never stop striving for improvement.

I am incredibly grateful to call Dancin’ In The Spotlight my second home. My studio has shaped me not only into the dancer I am now but also into the person I strive to be every day…

Tremaine Nationals Recap 😭✨💛

We get so emotional watching this recap video from the week! So many hours of work leading up to nationals. So much preparation to put our best foot forward. So many team building activities, and game nights. So much love shared between our DITS family.

Nationals week will forever be unforgettable for all. Achievements of a National Title Winner, 5 Title Finalists, a Freestyle Face Off Finalist, National High Score Solo & Duo/Trio, a performance in the Gala and Faculty Show, and SO MUCH MORE! But more importantly, the knowledge our dancers received from Tremaine and their incredibly talented Faculty & Guest Artists is something that will live with them forever, and continue to help them in their training to be versatile dancers.

We can’t thank all of the Tremaine Faculty, Staff, Administration, and Assistants enough for all of their hard work to make this the best week possible! Thank you to Terry Lindholm for continuing to create a joyous, positive experience for all dancers; and a big thank you to the man that started it all, Joe Tremaine! ❤️ by @dancininthespotlight
