Me when I laugh at your funny joke (you should be a comedian) by @danieljholguin

Let’s run it back one more time. I’ve been beating myself up on and off, back and forth, up and down over this for a long time. I struggled to come to terms with the fact that I wouldn’t be there when my friends, either the ones I grew up with, or the ones I only met in the last couple years, walked across the stage and finished their last year of school. I lamented that it wasn’t fair, that it wasn’t my fault, that there was nothing I could have done that could have changed the way things turned out. Of all the things I’ve had to live through, be it ADHD, depression, addiction, or just getting sick all the time, this one truly felt the most unfair. If you don’t know me well enough to have heard this story a thousand times before, during my freshman year of high school, I developed a cool little virus called long covid, and proceeded to suffer from it for about 9 months. School became nearly impossible to attend and I only ended up finishing two of my classes. Over the next couple years I tried working hard enough to still gather enough credits to graduate on time, but ultimately it wasn’t enough. Since then a whole lot of other stuff has happened. I’ve been in two car crashes, had my first seizure, and went through a major family loss while trying to make my way through school, knowing I would just have to come back next year. I made friends knowing that I wouldn’t be able to be there with them when they crossed over into the next phase of their life. Knowing that a year later I would cross that line alone. Well, now I’ve run out of time to feel sorry for myself, and it’s time to just jump right back into it. So it’s time to run it back, one more time, my head held as high as it can be.
