meal prep inspo for your sunday cooking 👩🏻‍🍳

i unintentionally started my 115 pound weight loss journey when i was 15. i had gained weight after i lost my dad when i was 13, & like many grieving, i looked to food for comfort. whenever i had the thought of losing weight, i would start diets that were unrealistic to my life & open gym memberships just to never show up.

not only was my physical health declining, but my personal and social health was as well. i was in a negative school environment, a straight F student, and i was also dealing with personal and family responsibilities that my peers couldn’t understand or relate to.

i ended up convincing my mom to change my school environment & that’s when everything changed. i started hanging out/walking with friends more, which made me more physically active, and the anxiety that caused b1nge eating started to improve, causing me to improve my eating habits.

1 year after switching my environment, i lost 50 pounds unintentionally. i didn’t even realize until my friends and family made comments, and once i did, i was in shock. this was the first time in my life that i was actually losing weight.. and i was doing it unintentionally by simply taking care of myself?!

this motivated me to learn more about health and apply my learning to develop a healthy lifestyle that worked for ME. i started turning old coping habits into healthy ones, such as going out on walks, cooking for myself, eating healthier, and just trying new things to better my overall health. these small changes ended up helping me lose the weight without me even realizing it.

another year later, i lost another 65 pounds, 125 pounds in total in 2 years by the time i was 17! i’m now 23 and have kept the weight off for 6 years!

small changes really do add up, i know they did for me. while my personal health journey happened to include weight loss, this is NOT me saying that you need to lose weight to be healthy. skinny does NOT equate to healthiness. health looks different on everyone and there’s no specific weight that defines health!

i hope you enjoyed reading about my journey & the delicious meals i ate throughout it 💕💪🏼 by @daniellajuliet
