After four years away from the professional game and three years in the NPL, you start asking yourself… Can I make it back? What does being a professional footballer even feel like anymore?

In the NPL, you can earn good money, work a second job, and build a comfortable life. Or you can chase the dream, train every day, compete at the highest level, and live the life you dreamed of as a kid.

If I’m honest, after three years in the NPL, you can start to lose hope. The game doesn’t always feel the same. You don’t always feel as important. The dream slowly fades.

But playing against Brisbane Roar in the Australia Cup Round of 32 reminded me why I fell in love with football in the first place.

Walking into the stadium. The atmosphere. The intensity. Going up against full-time professionals. It was different. It reminded me of what this game can be.

Even though we came up short, that match lit a spark in me again.

If I ever get another opportunity to play professionally, I’ll take it without hesitation.

I don’t think players should settle for just being comfortable or being one of the best in the NPL. If you have the chance, chase more. Go overseas. Play professionally. Experience the life we’ve all dreamed about. Even if it doesn’t work out, at least you’ll know you gave everything to your dream.

The Brisbane game is behind us now. We can’t change the result.

All we can do is keep working, keep believing, and focus on what’s next. ⚽❤️ #npl #australiacup #football by @danielwong_58

It’s been 19 months since we first started dating, and I cherish every single moment we’ve shared together ❤️

You’ve made me a better person in so many ways. You’ve been by my side through my highs, my lows, and my even more lows. Thank you for never giving up on me!

You are truly one of a kind. A real diamond 💎 Being with you has brought me a happiness I never knew was possible, and no words could ever fully describe how much you mean to me.

All I ever want is to see you smile and to make you happy 😘

I love you more than you’ll ever know, and I miss you every moment we’re apart. I can’t wait for you to come home.

To making more memories!
