Eersteriver station was my gate way into the greater Cape town suburbs. I starting traveling with the train to school since grade 4 from Eersteriver to Melton rose station. Then later into high school, from Eersteriver to Wynberg. I used to catch the 06:01 train 3200 coming from Strand for a year. I remember on Saturdays I would also take the train to rehearsals in Plumstead with a group called The Dance Project. This way I was always seeking to make something of my life. Riding the train from Eersteriver allowed me a sense of freedom into the greater Cape Town Metropole. #metrorail #blueribbonkasipride @breadblueribbon by @dannjaques8
I am proud of my Kasi because of the vast untapped talent and never say die attitudes of individuals who refuse to except being stunted by circumstance. To me, the people make the the area what it is and they bring character and flavour to express what my Kasi can offer. I remember when I was still in primary school at Helderkruin primary in Kleinvlei, when Azanian flames exploded onto the scene of the Break dancing culture in the late 90's. To me these guys were living their dreams and I was inspired to believe that I can achieve whatever I want. I began to dream. And through perseverance and Gods grace I achieved and continue to strive today to inspire the youth of my Kasi and the greater South Africa. #azainianflames #blueribbonkasipride @BlueRibbonBread by @dannjaques8
So proud of my eldest daughter Leah!!! Well done for receiving the principles' award. May you continue to walk in God's favour. God bless you. Daddy Loves you🎉🌃🥳🌞 by @dannjaques8
I nominate...Quinton Whane Bailey as my kasi hero! He is a statistic breaker, married for 38years to the same woman, a father of four graduates, a doting grandfather. He is a Bishop and a photographer in the Eerstreriver area for over 30years. He has been a part of strategic movements to ensure Eersteriver gets developed ie: Library, clinic, Multi purpose center and housing project/s. He is also currently the chairperson of Jacomus Foundation that offers drama for the upliftment of youth in the area and in the Cape Metropole. #BlueRibbonKasiPride by @dannjaques8
