A material may appear to exist independently, they influence one another and seek a new balance. The journey toward this balance requires a space for pause and reflection. This exhibition ‘Where Rest Takes Shape’ explores how diverse materialities connect with time and space. As the setting sun gently settles into the artworks, blue takes on another depth. by @daoom.art

Blue is more than a colour, it is a landscape where time, memory, and emotion reside. Six artists explore the many dimensions of blue through their own materials and artistic languages. <청연지유 | Journeys in Blue> 2026.06.27 – 2026.08.15 다움 DaOoM Wed–Sun | 12–6 PM 참여 작가 이태훈 · 정용욱 · 정은진 · 조민열 · 조혜영 · 주진형 #ContemporaryCraft #CraftExhibition #BlueArt #SeoulExhibition Photo by @unrealstudio Graphic design by @ingeechung Edited by @daoom.art by @daoom.art
The artist composes a constellation of earthen fragments of varying sizes and densities, suspending them within the space as vessels of time and memory. The subtly calibrated saturation of blue across the layered structure reflects the artist’s unique sense of balance and thoughtful contemplation into the possibility that emotional weight may move both upward and downward. The shadows cast as light passes through the transparent layers serve as a metaphor for the artist’s reflection on the direction and flow of emotions, enriching the work with a deeper narrative and heightened sense of depth. Through the layering of lines imbued with her reflections on time and nature, the artist evokes the textures of nature, where softness and resilience coexist. In her work, shades of blue reveal a vital energy flowing through delicate gradations, subtly conveying nature‘s breath and rhythm. Designed by @ingeechung Photo by @unrealstudio by @daoom.art
By layering denim fragments gathered from the vicinity of Changsin-dong the artist creates new narratives that bring together the urban landscape with the traces of labour. The spectrum of blue that permeates his work emerges through the cyclical process of reduction and oxidation, enhancing an immersive engagement with stories shaped by the community’s materials, places and the lives of its members. Utilising traditional textiles, Jeong Eun Jin creates simple yet well-ordered structures through unceasing and meticulous hand-stitching. As refined individual planes overlap, blue further accentuates their elegant sculptural beauty. Here, blue becomes a record of dedication shaped by patience and integrity. With humility, the artist approaches the practical constraints that artisans of the past must have faced due to the rarity of cobalt-blue pigment, and imagines the artistic worlds that potters of the time might have created had they been able to use blue more freely. Extending this dialogue between past and present, he seeks new possibilities for tradition from a contemporary perspective. Exploring the sculptural beauty and aesthetic sensibilities of different eras, he expands the spectrum of blue with both delicacy and boldness, realising a distinctive aesthetic of blue upon the surface of buncheong ceramics. The lines that emerge through the glassblowing process embrace the inevitable deformation brought about by physical conditions, paradoxically revealing an inherent order and sculptural beauty. The restrained hues evoked by its translucency and graceful curves born through a meticulous polishing process embody a diverse spectrum of blue, creating a luminous depth and a vivid visual presence.
