I thought it was a monster, but it was only grief.

I sat down to meditate and met a part of myself I hadn’t seen in years. Something I didn’t realize had been ruling me from beneath the surface.

I used to think survival meant rigidity. Control. Emotional silence. Keeping everything buried where it couldn’t touch me.

But once I stopped making an enemy of my emotions, I saw what they really were. Not a monster. Not something to conquer.

A presence. A truth. A part of me asking to be witnessed.

And when I finally stopped running, I felt relief.

The grief didn’t destroy me.
It revealed me.

i thought softness was a weakness. I didn’t want to feel and felt that my emotions were a curse. Little did i know that vulnerability and that softness were portals to transformation.
To feel empowered.
To wholeness.
To be.

Letting go of the past is scary… but today I chose me 🥀

Choosing to let go of the past can be scary. Even with all the pain we’ve endured, it’s easy to identify with it, hold onto it, and allow it to dictate who we are and how we act in the present moment.

This morning, I made the conscious decision to let it all go—the pain, the trauma, the hurt. As someone who has experienced emotional abuse and manipulation, a part of me has always been on guard, keeping me safe. Today, I told her it’s safe to put the sword down.

I’ve heavily identified with this version of myself for years. She protected me. She kept me alive. But I feel her changing. I feel myself changing. And I know it’s time to let that old identity die — even if I’m scared of the unknown that comes next.

I am choosing to step into the person I want to become, while honoring and being grateful for my past self. Without her, I wouldn’t have survived.

I’m nervous, scared, excited, and grateful to experience who I am becoming. With the amazing people in my life, my spirits by my side, and Lilith walking alongside me, reminding me of my power, I know I’ll be okay. 🖤
